1.500 job openings for Volkswagen in SP

Volkswagen will invest R$ 2,4 billion in the plants in São Carlos and São Bernardo do Campo; A total of 1.500 direct and indirect jobs will be created at the two factories in São Paulo.

It was announced today, August 29, by the governor of São Paulo, João Doria in Wolfsburg, Germany, that the Volkswagen will invest R$ 2,4 billion in the factories of São Carlos and São Bernardo do Campo to manufacture a new model of vehicle in Brazil (the company has not yet specified which one it will be). São Paulo is at full steam, the rail network should motivate more than R$ 7 billion and many job vacancies will be generated with the new investments in the state.

A total of 1.500 new direct and indirect jobs will be created at the two factories in São Paulo. Doria broke the news after visiting the VW factory in Wolfsburg.

During the visit, Doria got to know the professional qualification program for young students at the unit – the largest of the international vehicle manufacturer.

The system, with a tradition of more than 100 years, allows you to combine practice and theory to learn a profession. At the end of these courses, the young person leaves with a guaranteed job.

Vocational training is financed by companies that pay the apprentice a monthly salary and by the State, which assumes the costs of the vocational school. The empowerment model has become a German export.

According to the governor, the model he saw in Germany is similar to the one his government is developing in São Paulo, such as “Novotec” and “Minha Chance”, programs that encourage training young people for the job market.

“This is one of Volkswagen's good secrets and the training program done here is the same as what we are developing at Centro Paula Souza, at Etecs and Fatecs. For this reason, our government created 12 economic development poles, which will allow the qualification of labor dedicated to activities in the region, whether in the automobile sector, weaving, agribusiness, technology. Skilled labor is employed labor. It is what Germany already does and what we are doing in São Paulo”, explained Doria.

Doria went to Germany on Tuesday, accompanied by a delegation of his government's secretaries, as well as Mayor Orlando Morando (PSDB), from São Bernardo do Campo, where Volkswagen's headquarters are located in Brazil.
