Agrion expands its presence with R$250 million in investments to build 10 new factories and develop new products.

A Agrion Fertilizantes Especiais, headquartered in Uberlândia, Triângulo Mineiro, has entered into a significant agreement with the US-based Pegasus Capital Partners. The agreement will secure an investment of approximately R$250 million over the coming years. This investment, made possible by the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, will be used to build 10 new specialty fertilizer factories, in addition to strengthening the company's working capital and developing new products.

Agrion factory expansion objective and new projects

Currently, Agrion already has a plant in Tupaciguara, also in the Triângulo Mineiro region, in partnership with the Aroeira Bioenergetic Company.

This unit, opened in December 2023, has the capacity to produce around 60 thousand tons of fertilizers annually.

The fertilizer produced is derived from sugarcane residues, such as vinasse and filter cake, and is sold to the mill, its suppliers and the market in general.

The new investment will allow Agrion to replicate the successful model of the Tupaciguara plant in 10 new locations.

Future factories will follow the circular economy format, optimize logistics costs and create operational and commercial synergies, aligning with the principles of sustainability and efficiency.

Construction details of the new factories

According to Ernani Judice, CEO and founder of Agrion, the new factories will be built over the next five years.

Each unit requires an investment of approximately R$30 million. In addition to the investment received from the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, Agrion will seek to raise the additional funds needed to finance the factories.

Construction work on two of the new units, located in São Paulo, will begin in 2025.

In Minas Gerais, the plan includes advanced negotiations for the construction of two new factories, in addition to other projects with potential partners.

Judice mentioned that there are currently 10 mining groups testing Agrion products, which could become future sources of investment in new plants.

Regional expansion and product development

In addition to Minas Gerais and São Paulo, Agrion intends to expand its operations to Goiás, Mato Grosso and the Northeast region of Brazil.

the goal of company is to build two units per year. Part of the investment will be allocated to the development of new product lines, such as biological inputs and foliar fertilizers.

Currently, Agrion produces gradual-release organomineral fertilizers and liquid fertilizers from the filtration of sugarcane juice and vinasse.

The company is also advancing in adapting its plant for the production of foliar fertilizers and in experimenting with biological products aimed at plant nutrition.

Judice highlights that Agrion aims to build more units with an integrated and sustainable approach, reducing environmental impact and increasing productivity.

The company aims to open 20 new factories in the next 10 years, following the circular economy model and focusing on innovation and efficiency.

Advances in Agrion's factories and innovation

In addition to the focus on expansion physics and in the development of new products, Agrion is committed to sustainability and innovation.

The circular economy model adopted in the new factories will allow for the efficient reuse of waste and minimize environmental impact.

The company is investing in technologies that promote waste reduction and increase efficiency in fertilizer production.

This approach not only aligns Agrion with environmental best practices, but also positions the company as a leader in the specialty fertilizer industry, poised to meet a growing demand for more sustainable and effective agricultural solutions.
