Last Wednesday (4), municipal authorities inaugurated the new section connecting the Poney Club road to the Imigrantes Highway (Km 25/SP-160) and to the eastern section of the Mário Covas Beltway, starting from Santa Martins Street.
The work, named Eduardo Saigh, had a total investment of R$20 million, financed through public and private partnerships.
A new strategic connection
The inaugurated section has two lanes, one for each direction, totaling approximately 1 km of new road, parallel to the Imigrantes Highway.
The importance of the work goes beyond the construction itself: the new road will facilitate access for residents of the Jardim das Orquídeas and Grande Alvarenga neighborhoods to the Jardim Pinheiros and Jardim Represa neighborhoods, relieving one of the biggest traffic bottlenecks in the region.
According to municipal sources, the intervention was planned to alleviate the overload on the busy Alvarengas and Cama Patente roads, routes that are often congested.
Furthermore, the new route is expected to boost local economic development, providing a more efficient route for transporting cargo and goods.
Impact on urban mobility
Residents and drivers passing through the region already feel the difference since the opening of the section. “Before, it took us up to 40 minutes to cross this stretch during peak hours.
Now, traffic flows much better,” reported a local driver interviewed by the press.
Experts highlight that the new access may even reduce the operating costs of transport and logistics companies, since the route allows for faster and safer travel.
According to engineers responsible for the work, the project also included improvements in signage, lighting and paving, aiming to ensure a safer driving experience.
Development and quality of life with the highway
The construction of this new route not only improved mobility, but also increased the value of nearby properties.
With increased flow and greater accessibility, it is expected that new businesses and real estate developments emerge in the region.
The City Hall of São Bernardo do Campo already plans new investments in the area, including public spaces and shopping centers.
Additionally, we bring local residents are excited about the changes. “Having a direct route to the Rodovia dos Imigrantes makes a huge difference.
Now, it is much easier to visit relatives or even look for job opportunities in nearby cities,” said a resident of the Jardim Represa neighborhood.
What can still be improved on the highway?
Despite the improvements, some critical points still await future interventions. Secondary access stretches and intersections still need maintenance to avoid traffic jams during peak hours.
As reported by the municipal administration, new projects are being evaluated to further expand the local road network.
The question for residents and drivers is: what other projects could be prioritized to further improve traffic in the region? Leave your opinion in the comments!
