All layoffs at Big Techs are still aimed at cutting costs, but even so, they will weigh on the cash register. According to this survey carried out by Bloomberg, all expenses related to dismissal of employees and also termination fines that will be paid by Amazon, Meta, Alphabet and Microsoft, could still reach around US$ 4,7 billion.

This survey took into account the information regarding the other costs of dismissals disclosed in several recent reports from the big techs

In the case of Meta, for example, owner of Facebook, terminations totaled an expense of around US$ 975 million with a cut of 11 thousand employees in the fourth quarter of the year 2022.

According to the company, part of the amount will still be compensated in the coming months with "reduction in payroll, bonuses and other expenses with benefits".

Microsoft was one of the others big techs who made layoffs recently. The company, founded by Bill Gates, will still have a cost of US$ 800 million with all the compensation with these dismissals of a thousand employees, announced in October last year.

In January, the company announced cutting more than 10 employees, but has not yet revealed the amount to be withdrawn from the till.

According to Amazon, its expenses with compensation packages totaled US$ 640 million in the period of the fourth quarter of 2022. Already in early January, big tech made an announcement that would lay off about 18 employees in all its divisions around the world.

Finally, Google's parent company, Alphabet, projects its layoff package costs to range from $1,9 billion to $2,3 billion. CEO Sundar Pichai made an announcement about laying off around 12 employees, representing a total 6% of its global workforce, in mid-January.
