Ocyan Macaé Rio de Janeiro Social project

Since 2007, the company has been operating in communities in the cities of Macaé and RJ, promoting social inclusion in various segments

Macaé, September 23, 2019 – Escola em Ação, Ocyan's social responsibility program, has benefited more than 26 children and adolescents since 2007 in the municipalities of Macaé and Rio de Janeiro. Actions are defined based on the company's Sustainability Policy and Social Responsibility Guideline.

The program was launched with the aim of promoting sustainable development in the communities where Ocyan operates, in addition to prioritizing actions that promote social inclusion, education, cultural and sports promotion and environmental awareness for young people, integrating the school, the community and the company.

“We believe that supporting these initiatives helps inclusion, teamwork, discipline and focus. All this contributes to the transformation and development of socially vulnerable children and young people. Thus, we contribute to the creation of ethical and behavioral values for the individual, social and cognitive growth of these students”, points out Marco Aurélio Fonseca, Sustainability Director at Ocyan.

For 12 years, the company has carried out several projects, including: Opening Spaces, Playing in Action, Reading Mediation, Hit the Net, Recycling Women (PROMUR), Environmental Education Project, Teacher Training: Intertwining Languages, Technological Education Center and Professional (CETEP), Municipal School of Dance, Library Bus, Youth in Action – professional qualification, Sport in Action, #Inovareaprender.

“Currently, we have two projects, the partnership of Ocyan with the NGO Junior Achievement RJ, of corporate volunteering in public schools, and Instituto Acesso, of jiu-jitsu in Macaé, the most recent of them”, explains Jocelina Valle, specialist in Responsibility Social by Ocyan.

Legacy

One of the major projects was #Inovareaprender, whose concept of technological education with a proposal for pedagogical innovation enabled participants to use technology to solve problems in an innovative and playful way.

The donation of a 3D printer and a laser cutter to the Project Management and Research Center, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) – Campus Macaé, allowed students to advance in new solutions. #Inovareaprender was supported by Ocyan from 2014 to 2018.

“What we hope for and propose in all 'Escola em Ação' actions is to maintain a relationship between school, community and company, support youth entrepreneurship and increase intellectual capital in the region”, highlights Jocelina. Our expectation is also to promote better opportunities and living conditions for children and young people from the surrounding communities and build a sustainable citizenship, uniting aspects of Social Responsibility and Sustainability”, she concludes.
