Construction of a bridge promised 30 years ago is moving forward and creating jobs. Learn more about the opportunities and how to apply to be part of this historic project.
After decades of waiting, the project of Matinhos-Guaratuba Bridge begins to take shape, promising a definitive solution for the chronic traffic jams at the BR-277 crossing.
With 1.244 meters long, the bridge not only aims to connect the coast of Paraná more efficiently, but also to bring economic benefits, such as job creation in various areas.
The work, awaited for more than 30 years, raises the expectation that this will be a milestone in local infrastructure. Has the time finally come to make this historic crossing happen?

With 11,12% completion already achieved, the pace of construction continues steadily, and the bridge is expected to be completed within 24 months.
The project is being supervised by the Government of Paraná and closely monitored by environmental agencies, such as the Water and Land Institute (IAT), to ensure compliance with all required standards.
The Nova Ponte consortium, responsible for the construction, is currently focused on the most complex phase of the work: the foundation of the cable-stayed part, which has steel cables anchored to towers, allowing the free passage of vessels through Guaratuba Bay.
Engineering challenges and innovative design
According to information from the Paraná Highway Department (DER-PR), the Matinhos-Guaratuba bridge presents unique challenges due to the region's climatic and maritime conditions.
Larissa Vieira, the engineer responsible for inspection, highlights that the piles, up to 50 meters long and weighing 470 tons, are critical to ensuring the stability of the structure. “The tides and wind make the work even more complex”, Explica.
The bridge's design, compared to iconic structures such as the Vasco da Gama Bridge, in Lisbon, and Octávio Frias de Oliveira, in São Paulo, includes a free span of 160 meters to facilitate navigation without the need for lifting.
This will be essential to ensure a constant flow of both vehicles and vessels, without compromising movement in the bay.
In addition to being a functional solution for traffic, the bridge's modern design should become a tourist attraction in Paraná, resistant to strong winds and adverse weather conditions, and with simplified maintenance: cables can be replaced without having to disassemble large parts of the structure.
Job Opportunities: Who's Hiring?
In addition to transforming the region's landscape, the project is also bringing a series of new job opportunities.
A Guaratuba Workers Agency is already recruiting professionals for different positions, such as electricians, heavy vehicle drivers, specialized equipment operators, among others.
The current number of workers in construction is 300, but the expectation is that this task force double during peak construction.
Interested parties can submit their CVs directly to the agency or contact us by telephone.
Furthermore, with the work ongoing, employment opportunities will continue to emerge, especially in areas related to the maintenance and operation of the bridge after its completion.
Environmental preservation as a priority
Environmental preservation has been a crucial point during the execution of the project. The Nova Ponte consortium is continuously monitoring the impact of construction on local fauna and flora.
Guaratuba Bay is a delicate ecosystem, with a rich biodiversity of aquatic and terrestrial species, and the aim is to ensure that the work does not negatively affect the environment.
According to the consortium, the work of environmental monitoring has been rigorous and aims to mitigate any adverse effects during the construction and operation of the bridge.
The Water and Land Institute (IAT) continues to closely monitor activities to ensure that environmental regulations are respected.
A work for the future or just another empty promise?
With an investment of R$386,9 million and expected completion by the end of 2026, the Matinhos-Guaratuba Bridge has everything it needs to become a milestone in infrastructure from Paraná.
Two lanes in each direction, a cycle path, safety lanes and protective barriers will ensure that the crossing is safe and efficient for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
The schedule is being strictly followed, which increases expectations that the work will be delivered on time.
On the other hand, there are those who question whether the bridge will actually be able to alleviate traffic and boost the region’s development as promised.
Large projects in Brazil, especially in the infrastructure sector, do not always meet expectations, and the local population anxiously follows the next steps.
However, with the progress of the work, the creation of jobs and efforts to protect the environment, there is reason for optimism.
The bridge not only promises to make life easier for those traveling along BR-277, but also to open new doors for tourism and economic development in Guaratuba and Matinhos.
Will the bridge live up to its promises?
Now, the question remains: will the Matinhos-Guaratuba Bridge finally bring the expected relief to traffic and boost regional development, or will it be forgotten like so many other great infrastructure promises in Brazil? Leave your opinion in the comments and join this discussion!
