3R Petroleum got new tax incentives with Sudene for oil exploration in fields in Bahia, Ceará and Espírito Santo

Campos da Bahia, Ceará and Espírito Santo will benefit from the tax incentives granted by Sudene over the next few months. 3R Petroleum intends to expand oil and natural gas exploration in the fields with the support of the organization.

The oil and natural gas company 3R Petroleum started the year 2023 with big news for the coming months and is, this Thursday, (05/01), preparing to expand its operations. This is because the company got new tax incentives from the Northeast Development Superintendence (Sudene) for exploring fields located in Bahia, Ceará and Espírito Santo. The main benefit was the reduction in the collection of IRPJ for a period of 10 years.

Sudene grants strong tax incentives to 3R Petroleum and guarantees an increase in the exploration of oil and natural gas fields

The year 2023 promises to bring major improvements and expansions in the field of oil and natural gas exploration, with the arrival of a new administration in the Federal Government, as well as new names in the ministries.

The oil company 3R Petroleum has already started this new phase by obtaining large tax incentives to make its production even more powerful in some regions of the country.

The company announced that the Northeast Development Superintendence (Sudene), an agency linked to the Ministry of Regional Development, has granted new tax incentives for some of its fields.

They are the Recôncavo, Fazenda Belém and Peroá hubs, located in the states of Bahia, Ceará and Espírito Santo, respectively.

Both the Recôncavo hub, in Bahia, and the Fazenda Belém hub, in Ceará, have onshore oil and gas fields. The Peroá field is located in an offshore area of ​​the state of Espírito Santo.

Currently, Sudene encompasses all the states of Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, and operates partially in the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

According to 3R Petroleum, the main benefit of the tax incentives offered by Sudene to the exploration of fields was the reduction of the charge of Corporate Income Tax for a period of 10 years, by 75%.

Thus, the decision will take the combined rate of IRPJ and Social Contribution from 34% to up to 15,25% in the exploration and production of oil and natural gas in the fields.

“The company points out that the framework for the Recôncavo, Fazenda Belém and Peroá hubs is added to the approval of the incentive already granted for the Macau, Rio Ventura and Areia Branca hubs, all operated by 3R. As soon as the operational transition processes of the Pescada and Potiguar Poles are completed, the Company will request that the referred projects be included in the Sudene tax incentive”, highlighted the financial director of 3R, Rodrigo Pizarro.
