According to data from Anatel, around 70 devices offer support for the new 5G technology
5G became available this Friday, the 29th, in the regions of Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Porto Alegre. this new tech ensures an improvement in speed and also promises less delay in process responses with low latency, according to Anatel data.
To have access to the new technology, residents need to have a device compatible with 5G, according to the CNN Brasil website.
Regions that already have 5G
The federal capital Brasilia was the first city in Brazil to receive 5G technology, on July 6, 2022. According to Anatel, approximately 391 municipalities still do not have the new technology, which is equivalent to 7% of cities from the country.

Despite this, Anatel's plan is to provide the technology to all capitals in the country, by September 29th. For municipalities with a population equal to or greater than 500 inhabitants, the forecast is that 5G technology will arrive from January 1, 2023.
At the beginning of July, the Ministries of Communications and Anatel declared that the city of São Paulo would also receive 5G along with the other capitals. However, this fact will not happen for the time being, according to the Anatel advisor and president of the group responsible for monitoring the implementation of 5G technology in Brazil, Moisés Moreira. The councilor also stated that it is expected that urban regions will be able to count on 5G technology by January 2026.
Accenture data show that the implementation of 5G in countries that held the auction before Brazil had positive economic impacts, with new opportunities for products, services and business models.
Technology-compatible devices
So far, according to data from Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), about 70 models provide support for 5G.
If the cell phone owner wants to be sure whether access to 5G is possible, experts recommend contacting the operator. Another way is to inspect the homologation code stamped on the chassis, or in the manual of the device.
So far, only products approved by Anatel can use the 5G and the distribution of technology also depends on operators, and not all neighborhoods will have access to 5G. Therefore, even if the person has a technology-compatible device, they may not be able to connect.
According to Anatel, "each operator has its own network deployment and expansion strategy, so it is common for not all operators to serve all neighborhoods and regions".
Anatel also recommends that people get in touch with telephone service providers to find out if a certain region will have the network available.
Anatel may distribute antennas to needy families if 5G interferes with the signal from their satellite dishes
According to Gaispi (Group for Monitoring the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems), some preliminary tests were carried out in the three capitals to identify and establish the possibility that the 5G signal has to affect the reception of residential satellite dishes or even professional systems such as satellite signals.
To solve possible interference, Anatel created a program to distribute, free of charge, kits containing new digital antennas, converters and cables to needy families in the capitals of Brazil, registered in the Cadastro Único and who use satellite dishes of the so-called Band C.
