ANP reveals forecasts for investments, activities and production of oil and natural gas in Brazil until 2028. The Santos and Campos basins are the ones that will receive the most resources. The production phase of current contracts is expected to generate more than R$500 billion in the period.
According to information released by Petronotícias, the oil and natural gas of Brazil should receive a major boost in the coming years, with planned investments of more than R$500 billion in the production phase of current contracts. The information was released by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), which also identified the Santos and Campos basins as the main recipients of the resources.
Santos and Campos Basins lead the forecast for investments in oil and gas in Brazil
According to the ANP, investments in the production phase of current oil and gas contracts will amount to just over R$130 billion in 2024, with around R$37 billion being applied to construction works. platforms.
Furthermore, the agency estimates that 1.228 km of lines (including risers) will be launched, 393 production wells drilled and 11 platforms built this year.

The other basins will have smaller investments, but no less important for the development of the sector.
Between 2024 and 2028, the ANP predicts that investments in the production phase of current contracts for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas in Brazil will reach approximately R$514 billion.
During this period, the Santos and Campos basins will continue to lead, with 61% and 28% of investments, respectively.
ANP releases forecast of oil and natural gas activities and production for the coming years
The agency also projects that average oil and natural gas production volumes will increase in the coming years.
Reaching 667 thousand cubic meters per day (m3/d) of oil (i.e., 4,195 million barrels per day) and 209 million m³/d of natural gas in 2028, 180 million m³/d after CO2 discount.
To guarantee these results, field operators must carry out several activities, such as drilling and recompletion of producing wells, 3D seismic acquisition, launching and removing lines and risers, and abandonment and razing of wells.
The ANP informs that the forecasts are based on the Annual Work and Budget Programs (PAT) and Annual Production Programs (PAP) of current contracts, which can be updated at any time.
The production phase is the second phase of production contracts. oil and natural gas exploration and production, which begins after the declaration of commerciality of the fields.
Recently, the ANP had already released forecasts for activities and investments in the exploration phase, which are expected to total US$1,96 billion in 2024, with emphasis on the maritime basins of the Equatorial Margin and the East Margin.
