Accident during equipment testing on Petrobras' P-31 platform left an oil tanker injured

The accident that occurred on the Petrobras platform P 31, located in the Campos Basin, in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, left the employee Ícaro Leão da Silveira, 28 years old, injured. The oil tanker who performs the role of operations technician.

Ícaro suffered an open fracture in his leg when he was hit by a hose during a pressurization procedure and was rescued by helicopter to a hospital in Vitória, Espírito Santo. He underwent surgery and is recovering well.

According to Marcelo Nunes, Director of Communication for the Oil Workers Union of Norte Fluminense, the company has reduced its investments in safety; which has led to an increase in accidents.

Marcelo also complained that it is increasingly dangerous to work on a platform, which is a high-risk unit.

Petrobras said, in a note, that the accident happened on the afternoon of Monday, the 12th, during equipment tests at P31 and that the employee was immediately referred for on-site care and then taken by helicopter to Vitória, where he underwent surgery. and it goes well.

Also according to the note, the company set up an investigation commission to determine the causes of the incident.

A state did not answer about the reduction of investments in safety and about the registration of accidents, and did not report absolute numbers, only rates, in which it is possible to compare that from 2015 to 2018 there was a reduction of 53% in the records of accidents at work.

 Auction of ferries, cranes and traction machines

As part of the movement to optimize the portfolio and improve capital allocation, Petrobras announced this Thursday, the 15th, that it will hold an electronic auction number 17 on September 19.057, for the sale of equipment containing ocean rafts, cranes and traction machinery.

According to the company, the sale aims to reduce costs, since there is no prospect of using this equipment in the company's projects.
