Before leaving Brazil, Ford had already adapted the Brazilian jeep Troller to the 2.0-liter automatic 10-speed biturbo diesel power train in an advanced stage, when he decided to kill it.

After Ford left Brazil as a vehicle manufacturer, the multinational decided to continue operating here only as an importer from 2021 onwards, left our Troller T4 with an inglorious end, since both the brand and the jeep, which are of Brazilian origin, must be extinguished.

The last unit left the Horizonte (CE) factory at the end of September 2021 and was sold for R$300.000. The complex continued operating until the end of November, in order to produce spare parts for the remaining models on the streets.

Ford will not transfer the rights to the brand and the Troller jeep will be extinct

The American company has already announced that it has not given up the rights to the brand or the SUV. And since no one has expressed an interest in buying it, its most likely fate is death. Even sadder was discovering that there was an important update planned for the 2022 line of the Jeep, which would have been implemented this year if Ford had not given up on it.

The information came to light on the Mustang7G forum, formed by fans of the muscle car. At the time, it was one of the most commented topics on the LinkedIn page of a Brazilian engineer who works on global projects for the multinational Ford, found by one of the forum members.

The focus of the discussion is on details the engineer released about the S650 project, which will spawn the seventh-generation Mustang. The profile described the development of two old-new engines for the sports coupe, the 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder and the 5.0 V8.

The most interesting one was scheduled for 2023, with a V8 engine — probably the same as the Mach 1 — and another electric one forming a completely different set from the Mustang Mach-E. There were also plans for a hybrid Mustang with a 2.3 engine. The information was checked by QUATRO RODAS, and there is no inconsistency either in terms of dates or in acronyms and other data checked.

Troller with Ranger Raptor engine and Mustang gearbox

In place of the 3.2-cylinder turbodiesel engine and the six-speed automatic transmission of the Ranger pickup, with 200 hp of power and 47,9 kgfm of torque, Ford's Troller jeep would use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder biturbo diesel engine of 213 hp and 51 kgfm.

The most interesting thing is that, in this pickup configuration, the gearbox is a ten-speed automatic, just like the current Mustang Mach 1 sold in Brazil.

But the specialist in product development abandoned the project at the end of last year, at the same time that the choice to close the Ford factories in Brazil was taken.

Since then, the Mustang project has taken off and continues to move forward. Troller, on the other hand, lowered its doors but without Ford giving up its commercial rights. But will the T4 with a Ranger Raptor engine ever get off the ground?

Ford was never interested in Troller, the only interest was to bring down a possible national manufacturer. Imagine how big Troller would be in 10 years?

True. Just like Coca Cola, which, afraid of the competition, bought the JESUS soft drink in Maranhão.

Yes, they annihilate their competitors when they are still small.

Since we're on the subject of soft drinks, Coca has been trying to outwit Cajuína São Geraldo in Juazeiro do Norte – CE for a long time. Coca, the exterminator of small things!

Ford's interest in the brand was something else: tax benefit.

Ford purchased the Troller factory in 2007 to benefit from tax incentives under the Northeast's special automotive regime.
Ford's strategy was to transfer the benefits of the Camaçari (BA) factory to the Troller factory in Ceará.
The main incentive of the regime is the presumed credit on a 32% discount on IPI, the Tax on Industrialized Products.

In fact, Troller also had many subsidies and tax breaks from the government that were not renewed... hence Ford's tantrum.

On Android, using Chrome, you can set the page to open “For Computer”.
Ads will appear, but they will “behave” on the screen.

For Brazilians, a national brand with a strong emotional appeal, especially for off-road lovers.

For Ford, just a tax play between the company and the government ****.

If the government had vision, it would have united Troller with Agrale and Marcopolo. This way, we would have a very competitive industry in a niche specialized in off-road, agricultural products, military and urban mobility, with the Brazilian State itself as one of the main partners.

After all, every state-owned company is an example of management, right!

At no time did I mention the creation of a state-owned company, but rather facilitating the merger of three private companies.

And the State, as a buyer, acquires products from this national company.

Ex: The FAB buys planes from Embraer. The government of Bahia bought cars from FORD and gave discounts to the civil servants to buy them.

Just by seeing how it launched the Galaxie and Escort, you can see that it never wanted to invest in Brazil like Chevrolet!

Even Ford is repeating the same thing from the 60s. Only betting on high-value products. Solemnly ignoring the general public.

This behavior only proves that Ford acquired Troller with the purpose of eliminating a competitor, it took time, but perhaps that time has come.

It's a shame to see a vehicle with such a Brazilian soul being extinguished in such a sinister way.

But the Caoa group, for example, has the financial capacity to rekindle the flame, of course with another name, drag the engineers along and start over.
