Petrobras helicopter pilot with 25 years of experience dies after a forced landing accident in Bahia, and another 12 people were injured at the scene of the accident. The Lider Aviation company, responsible for the helicopter, also regretted the case and said it provided all the necessary support.
On the morning of this Wednesday (16), the crew of a helicopter carrying Petrobras employees died after the vehicle made a forced landing in the Camamu Basin, in the south of Bahia, close to the Manati field. After the accident, the crew member was rescued by a vessel, but unfortunately he did not resist his injuries. Investigators from the Second Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA II), located in Recife (PE), regional body of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA), were called to the occurrence.
Another 12 people are rescued after a helicopter crash with Petrobras employees
Petrobras did not go into details if the crew member was part of the state-owned company's staff or if it was a service provider through a third-party company. The man, identified as Luiz Augusto Volpiano Pereira, was 58 years old and had 25 years of experience in his position, according to information from family members who live in Paraguaçu Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo. Another 12 people were also rescued from the helicopter crash, with only minor injuries.
The other rescued wounded were taken to Salvador to receive medical care. The twelve injured were rescued by a helicopter and a plane from the Military Police Air Group (GRAER), but their health status was not disclosed.

The Military Police reported that eight victims were assisted by the plane and three others by the helicopter, and after these rescue services, the team returned to the accident site and helped one more person. At the site, investigators identify evidence, photograph scenes, remove parts of the aircraft for analysis, listen to witness reports, gather documents, among other actions. There is no estimated time for the analysis to occur, always depending on the complexity of the occurrence.
Petrobras says that the competent bodies are already looking for a cause for the accident
Os Petrobras employees they were taken to Hospital Teresa de Lisieux, Hospital da Bahia, Hospital Cárdio Pulmonar and Hospital São Rafael. The person responsible for the Teresa de Lisieux Hospital, the Hapvida system, said that three of the five patients who were admitted to the unit are stable and without any risk of death, and the other two are doing well and have already been discharged. According to information, the helicopter had to make a forced landing upon arrival to land on the Manati platform.
Petrobras regrets what happened and informed that a commission will be developed to determine the cause of the accident. The company also stated that the responsible bodies have already been communicated about the case. The Lider Aviation company, responsible for the helicopter, also regretted the accident and said it would provide all possible help.
Organs are triggered to analyze the helicopter accident
Investigators from the Second Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA II), located in Recife (PE), and also the Regional Body of the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents.
There is no estimated time for the analysis to be completed, as this depends on the complexity of the accident. According to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the objective of the investigations carried out by Cenipa is to prevent new accidents with similar characteristics.
