After almost a decade of inactivity, the company Jataí Agroindústria resumes its activity with a large ethanol project, boosting the local economy.

The municipality of Jataí, in Goiás, celebrates the resumption of operations of Jataí Agroindustry of Biofuels. After almost ten years of inactivity, Jataí Agroindústria is starting to produce ethanol. The company's project, which aims to strengthen the local economy, is already generating 500 direct and indirect jobs, with an expected monthly turnover of R$28 million. The resumption of Jataí Agroindústria's activities is an important milestone for the city. This company project represents a major step forward for industrial activity in Jataí.

Advantages of Jataí Agroindústria's ethanol project

A new plant Jataí Agroindústria has the capacity to process 500 tons of corn per day, resulting in 210 thousand liters of ethanol, 125 tons of DDG (a by-product used in animal feed), 7,5 tons of corn oil and 50 thousand liters of vinasse syrup daily.

Jataí is one of the main cities in the state of Goiás in terms of corn production.

According to Vital Nogueira, the engineer responsible for the project, the new Jataí Agroindústria plant has the capacity to crush both corn and sorghum, which is also widely cultivated in the region.

The industry, by focusing on this project, brings benefits not only to the company, but also to local farmers.

“Goiás plants a lot of grain sorghum, which is used for animal feed. Thus, Jataí Agroindústria will be able to grind both crops, generating a high-protein feed,” explains Nogueira.

He also highlights that there is potential to double production at the company's unit. “This Jataí Agroindústria plant will add value to local production, allowing the corn harvested in Jataí to be industrialized right here,” he celebrates.

Challenges faced by the company

Jataí Agroindústria, owned by businessman Walter Giacomini, faced a series of challenges throughout its history.

For ten years, the company dealt with bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of political support to obtain the necessary certifications to begin operations.

The company's situation began to change in August 2024, when the vice-mayor of Jataí, Geneilton Assis, and senator Wilder Morais began to lead negotiations in Brasília.

“This is an example of how courageous entrepreneurs and a policy focused on economic development can transform a region,” says Assis.

He emphasizes that the revenue generated by the company will have a direct impact on the local population, with investments in health, education and infrastructure, highlighting the importance of the company's activity.

Biodiesel production and the future of Jataí Agroindústria

Recently, the new plant Jataí Agroindústria's ethanol plant received authorization from the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The unit, which shares the same CNPJ as the old biodiesel plant, was authorized to operate after the cancellation of the biodiesel license, which occurred in January of this year due to the lack of necessary documentation.

This turnaround is a huge win for the company.

While the company's old plant had the capacity to produce 18 million liters of biodiesel per year, which represented just 0,1% of the total in Brazil, Jataí Agroindústria's new plant promises to have a much greater impact.

With the end of the shutdown and the resumption of activities, the company is prepared to transform local production and contribute significantly to the region's economy. Jataí Agroindústria, with its innovative project, represents a new era for industrial activity in Jataí.
