Another Chinese automaker announces the start of operations in Brazil

The arrival of a new automaker in Brazil always raises expectations, but when we talk about a company that promises to revolutionize the automotive market, the impact can be much greater.

This week, another giant in the automotive sector, based in China, announced that it is ready to shake up the electric vehicle scene in Brazil.

A zeekr, an electric vehicle manufacturer founded just three years ago in China, announced that will begin operations in Brazil in the fourth quarter of 2024.

According to the company, the Brazil was chosen as a “strategic regional market” for its global expansion, an important step towards consolidating its international presence.

The company, which belongs to the powerful group Geely — owner of renowned brands as Volvo and Lotus — has already demonstrated its ambition by rapidly expanding to 30 markets around the world.

the direction of Zeekr in Brazil will be led by Ronaldo Znidarsis, an executive with extensive experience in traditional automakers, such as Volkswagen, General Motors and Renault Nissan.

The choice of Znidarsis highlights the commitment of zeekr in not only entering the Brazilian market, but in establish a solid and reliable foundation, taking advantage of the in-depth knowledge of the local market that the new director brings with him.

The context of electric cars in Brazil

The Zeekr in Brazil coincides with a crucial moment for the electric vehicle market in the country. Sales of electrified cars — which include both electric and hybrids — have soared in recent months.

In the year to date 2024, sales of these vehicles totaled 94.576 units, more than double the 39.676 vehicles licensed between January and July 2023.

These numbers show significant growth and point to a future in which Electrified cars will become increasingly common on Brazilian streets.

Challenges and opportunities

Despite this growth, the zeekr will face significant challenges, especially due to the increase in import tariffs on electric vehicles in Brazil, which are expected to reach 35% by mid-2026.

This policy can directly impact vehicle prices and, consequently, the brand competitiveness in the Brazilian market.

However, with the Geely group expertise and quality of “premium” vehicles that zeekr promises to deliver, the company can find ways to overcome these obstacles and capture a considerable share of the market.

Global presence and local impact da zeekr

Since its founding, the zeekr has already accumulated more than 300 thousand global sales, showing that its expansion strategy is not only ambitious but also effective.

Arrival in Brazil represents a continuation of this strategy and a opportunity to stand out in a market that is still developing when it's about electric vehicles.

For experts, the arrival of Zeekr to Brazil It could be the beginning of a new era for the automotive market in the country. With vehicles villas, the company has the potential to influence the way Brazilians perceive and use electric cars.

Will this new phase bring real benefits to the Brazilian consumer or will the challenges of the local market prevail? Leave your opinion in the comments!

This Brazil has to be wiped off the map.
The highest tax rate in the world has been turning us into miserable people in all aspects and existential needs, with the elite parading around in electric cars and the poor committing suicide in small amounts to meet the need for a good that is essential to human existence.
Here comes this one. Another multinational company lands to give a few the luxury of investing abroad what they can get from here, and then do as many have already done. Abandon Brazil, condemned to the bottom of the well. After all, those who do not value themselves will sink. Many like this crap that is falling on the backs of those who pay taxes and are deteriorating with the glamour of this land where there is no progress in understanding that wealth does not need to come from abroad, imitating the great. We need to be great by inventing ourselves, creating what is legitimately Brazilian, providing sustainability to these people who need to study, work and live with dignity.
Stop imitating the first world. As in the past, we will return to being social outcasts for showing off something that is beyond our reach and leaving the most important thing aside (education and work for these people who have become accustomed to trivialities).

Unfortunately, this is the reality of an elite that dates back to colonial Brazil, passing through the lords of the coffee plantations and sugar mills, the true owners of the money who became bankers, etc. And who have always ruled and misruled the great republic.
Investment in education leads people to become aware of reality, creating a population that does not accept living off abuses and crumbs.

Venezuela eliminated illiteracy in 2005. Education without purpose is useless. Until we learn to vote and believe that the government is the savior of the country and that the businessman who supports the government is the villain, we will sink deeper and deeper. There are few workers to support many who only spend. There are more people receiving family allowances than working, not to mention public servants, whose salaries are exorbitant. The brilliant minds of the United States are forming new companies and new technologies. In Brazil, they are in public service.

The Brazilian problem is not in one or more factories, wherever they come from. It is in the corrupt governments (municipal/state/federal) that are perpetuated in the system. Now, it is aggravated by the cowardly, **** and politicized judiciary!

You are not aware of taxes in other countries.
The basic difference is that in Brazil the seller is the faithful depositary of taxes, which he often appropriates and evades. And in other countries, in most cases, the tax is direct, going from direct payment to public cuts.

How so?
There are a few more companies that have adopted Brazil as their flagship for manufacturing their latest generation automobiles.
What do we want? That the multinationals that have been here for decades, manufacturers of combustion vehicles, which are also international manufacturers, continue to manufacture their carts with very few horses for the poor Brazilians?
Today we have electric vehicles with competitive prices, which gives Brazilians the free choice of opting for a combustion car or an electric vehicle.
The choice is up to each person, after all, we live in a democratic country.
And there's another thing, they are injecting a lot of dollars into Brazil for the implementation of factories and consequent job offers, examples of this are GWM, BYD and in the near future GELLY.
