Amazon Military Command intensifies actions against crimes in the forest and reinforces its presence in strategic regions of the border, with million-dollar seizures and support for indigenous communities
O Exército brasileiro expanded its presence on the borders of the Western Amazon and recorded, in the first quarter of 2025 alone, an impact of R$143,2 million in seizures and losses due to crimes. The operations are conducted by the Amazon Military Command (CMA) in regions that are difficult to access, reinforcing the fight against illegal mining, drug trafficking, smuggling and environmental crimes.
Integrated actions in four Amazon states
More than 4.200 military personnel participated in the actions, carried out at strategic points in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia and Roraima.
The operations had logistical support by land, river and air, in addition to cooperation between the Army and agencies such as the Federal Police, IBAMA, ICMBio, FUNAI, PRF, National Force and state secretariats.

Social support and defense of indigenous peoples
In addition to directly combating crime, the CMA also promotes humanitarian actions. These include transporting vaccines, providing medical care in hard-to-reach areas, supporting indigenous health and delivering basic resources to communities.
Operation Catrimani II is underway with a focus on removing intruders from the Yanomami Indigenous Land. The mission will ensure respect for the territory and the rights of the indigenous peoples, with the joint participation of civil and environmental forces such as FUNAI and ICMBio.
Sovereign presence and protection of the forest
The CMA also maintains permanent operations with support from the Jungle Infantry Brigades in São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Tefé, Boa Vista and Porto Velho.
The actions reinforce the defense of borders and the preservation of the forest, reaffirming the role of the Army as guarantor of the law and national sovereignty in the Amazon.
