According to the Civil Police, Denilson, one of the most wanted criminals in Rio de Janeiro, did not have his own car, and changed his name and family in an attempt to hide.
“He didn't even have a car. He used app vehicles to not draw attention. He lived in a simple apartment, but he lived in luxury. In Espírito Santo, he owned six gas stations in several cities, all in the name of third parties”, informed the delegate Felipe Curi, director of the Specialized Police Department (DGPE).
Denilson had the image of a successful businessman and led a discreet life, careful not to arouse suspicion from the local police. According to the Civil Police, all the assets were gained by stealing fuel directly from Petrobras' pipelines.
The agents located and arrested Barão do Petróleo based on information from the Intelligence Sector and the Disque-Denúncia. On the Portal dos Procurados, the reward for information about his whereabouts was R$ 5 thousand.
Even living in the city of Espírito Santo, the investigations showed that Maninho do Posto continues to exploit the theft of fuel in Petrobras pipelines in Baixada Fluminense.
— Although he moved a large amount with the theft of fuel, Denilson Pessanha led a discreet life and adopted a series of artifices in order not to attract attention. He was so confident he wouldn't be spotted that he was surprised when my team and I arrived. He offered no resistance and said little. Before he enters the penitentiary system, I still want to hear him at the police station - said delegate André Leiras, holder of the DDSD.
