Agreement expands strategic partnership and reinforces Dow's decarbonization goals in Brazil, with supply from Atlas Renewable Energy's Casablanca Solar Complex in Minas Gerais.

Atlas Renewable Energy announced last Wednesday (16) a new contract for the supply of clean energy with Dow, a multinational chemical company, reinforcing a strategic alliance that aims to accelerate the energy transition in Brazil. The agreement guarantees the supply of renewable energy from the Casablanca Solar Complex, located in Pirapora (MG), with an installed capacity of 358 MWp, to supply Dow's operations in the industrial hub of Aratu, in Bahia.

This long-term contract is aligned with Dow's global decarbonization strategy, which, since the beginning of 2025, has supplied all of its nine operational units in Brazil with 100% renewable electricity.

According to Vinícius Sambuc, Dow's commercial energy manager in the country, the initiative directly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and also strengthens cost predictability.

“Long-term power purchase agreements are part of Dow’s decarbonization strategy. By transforming the way we produce and consume energy, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, they enable energy diversification in Brazil and price predictability during the term of the agreements,” he highlighted.

Solid partnership since 2020

The partnership between Atlas Renewable Energy and Dow began in 2020, with a contract to supply solar energy from the Jacarandá photovoltaic park, also in Bahia, with an installed capacity of 187 MWp and a duration of 15 years.

The new stage of this relationship reinforces the trust between the companies and the mutual commitment to sustainability.

Fábio Bortoluzo, director of Atlas Renewable Energy, highlighted that this partnership model is a practical example of how large corporations can collaborate to accelerate the adoption of a cleaner energy matrix.

“Our relationship with Dow is an example of how companies can work together to accelerate the transition to a cleaner and more efficient energy matrix.”

Renewable energy as a driver of transformation

Globally, energy accounts for approximately 50% of GHG emissions from Dow’s operations, so investing in clean energy sources has become a key pillar in the journey towards carbon neutrality.

The contract with Atlas Renewable Energy represents not only a sustainable alternative, but also a cost-effective solution to ensure long-term stability.

In addition to Dow, Atlas has also signed relevant agreements with other large companies.

A recent example is the self-production contract signed with V.tal, a company in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, with part of the energy destined for data centers and participation in 11 self-production consortiums.

Who is Atlas Renewable Energy?

Founded in 2017, Atlas Renewable Energy is today the largest independent generator (IPP) of renewable energy in Latin America, with a strong presence in the solar and wind markets.

With more than 2,7 GW of operational capacity and around 6 GW under development, the company has been consolidating itself as one of the global players in the clean energy sector.

Initially supported by the British group Actis, Atlas continues to expand its operations with a focus on customized solutions for large consumers, such as Dow, who seek to reduce their environmental impact and ensure long-term energy security.
