A USP (University of São Paulo) Registration is open for the course “Girl Programmers: Introduction to Programming”, a unique opportunity for high school students or graduates interested in technology.
This Free course aims to encourage female participation in the computing field, which is still predominantly occupied by men.
Classes will take place between the days January 4th and February 1st, 2025, every Saturday, from 14 pm to 17 pm, remotely. With this structure, participants will be able to learn from the comfort of their own home, as long as they have a computer with internet access.

Designed by the teacher Mary of Grace Pimentel, the course was created in 2021 to spark the interest of girls and non-binary people in the world of programming. During the course, students will have the chance to explore basic computing concepts and carry out practical activities that simulate real challenges in the area.

Course details and USP requirements
O “Programmer Girls” It is completely free and has strict criteria for certification, which guarantees the quality of the training. To be approved, the student must:
- Have at least 75% attendance in classes.
- To hit 75% of weekly exercises.
- Get at least note 5 in the final assessment activity.
Content and schedule
The classes were designed to cover initial programming concepts and include hands-on activities. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to Programming Logic USP.
- Data manipulation and basic structures.
- Introduction to programming languages.
- Creating simple projects.
- Solving computational problems.
Participants will be accompanied by experienced USP professors, who will offer support and feedback throughout the entire process.
