Lemley's decision comes after changes in Meta's policy and criticism of the direction taken by Mark Zuckerberg, affecting his collaboration!

The lawyer Mark Lemley, known for representing the Meta in a copyright case about Generative AI, announced that it will no longer provide services to the company.

Lemley, who is also a law professor at Stanford University, made this decision after criticism of the management of Mark Zuckerberg in relation to what he described as โ€œtoxic machismo and neo-Nazi madnessโ€, according to the website g1.

Changes to content moderation policy

Lemley's decision comes on the heels of significant changes announced by Zuckerberg on January 7, which include the end of the fact-checking program in the United States and the implementation of community ratings.

This model, similar to that adopted by X, the social network of Elon Musk, allows users to comment on the accuracy of the content themselves.

Reactions and impacts

Experts have expressed concern about the potential for an increase in misinformation and hate speech on social media platforms. Meta, which owns the Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp e Threads,.

In a recent podcast, Zuckerberg expressed a longing for a โ€œmasculine energyโ€ in a society he sees as โ€œneutral.โ€

Mark Lemley's Statements

No Bluesky, a social network that rivals the X, Lemley explained his decision, mentioning that, although he believed that the Meta is correct in the copyright dispute over IA, he cannot in good conscience continue as your attorney. In addition to leaving the Meta, Lemley announced that he will be deactivating his account on Threads, and will promote the Bluesky as an alternative to X.

He also stated that he will no longer purchase products through ads on Facebook ou Instagram to ensure that the company does not receive credit for your purchases.

The moves reflect Lemley's discontent with the direction Meta is taking under Zuckerberg's leadership, highlighting the growing divide between the company and some of its former allies.
