Floods and road blockages in Rio Grande do Sul caused serious damage to the production and distribution of vehicles. General Motors, Stellantis and Toyota face disruptions to operations, but show solidarity by supporting affected employees and communities.

The recent climate tragedy that struck Rio Grande do Sul not only caused devastation in local communities, but also severely shook the Auto Industry. Floods and road blockages affected vehicle production and distribution, with automakers such as General Motors, Stellantis and Toyota recording some losses and adopting emergency measures.

Toyota vehicle distribution center in Guaíba was affected

As far as Toyota is concerned, its distribution center in Guaíba was affected by the floods.

Stopping vehicle production at GM in Gravataí

The General Motors factory in Gravataí, known for producing popular vehicles such as the Chevrolet Onix and Onix Plus, suspended its operations last Wednesday (8) for safety reasons.

GM, aware of the importance of social responsibility, is supporting affected employees and the local community through donations of money, food and clothing, as well as providing vehicles for rescue operations.

Stellantis had to stop production in Córdoba

Stellantis, the company that owns Fiat, is facing similar problems, suspending production at its factory in Córdoba, Argentina.

The lack of parts for some vehicles, due to roadblocks in Rio Grande do Sul, led to an interruption in production of the Fiat Cronos.

The company is evaluating the impacts on suppliers and working to minimize the consequences on its plants in the region.

Solidarity in the midst of adversity

In a time of crisis, it's comforting to see automotive companies not only dealing with the fallout but also reaching out to help their affected communities and employees.

This solidarity highlights companies’ commitment to social well-being and resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.

The climate tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul left deep marks in several areas, including the automobile industry.

With General Motors, Stellantis and Toyota among those affected, it is essential that these companies continue to collaborate on relief and recovery efforts, ensuring not only the resumption of their vehicle production and distribution operations, but also contributing to the rebuilding of communities locations.

Chevrolet não está nem aí para seus funcionários que lesionan dentro da fábrica, isso não passa de marketing
