Digital Transformation and Production Chain
In recent years, Braskem has risen through its substantial investments in digital transformation, achieving impressive results. One of the pillars of its success has been the strengthening of the company’s digital portfolio, which, by the end of 2023, will include 59 digital products. These tools have a significant impact on more than 200 areas, covering a wide range of processes and operations, from the supply chain to customer service. In addition, it has a remarkable global infrastructure to accelerate its development in innovation.
Two are in operation technology and innovation centers in Triunfo (Brazil) and Pittsburgh (USA); two technical hubs focused on polymers in Germany and Mexico; a process technology development hub in Mauá (Brazil); seven pilot plants; and two research hubs for renewable chemicals in Campinas (Brazil) and in the United States, at the newly established center in Lexington. The results of this infrastructure are impressive. In 2023, more than 450 customers were supported by research teams, and 210 innovation and technology projects were developed. Several open innovation initiatives are also underway.
Circular Economy and Sustainability
Voqen, for example, was created with the support of Braskem and focuses on the energy transition of the petrochemical sector. Its management includes natural gas and electric energy contracts, representing R$4,5 billion and 74,5 thousand tons of CO2e avoided through the sale of renewable energy certificates. Another example of collaboration in innovation is Sustainea, created in partnership with the Japanese company Sojitz. This joint venture manages the production and marketing of the raw material monoethylene glycol (bioMEG), which has uses in civil construction, industrial applications and cosmetics. A significant innovation by Braskem was the development of a bioPET bottle, approved for contact with food.
