Bioverde plans to invest R$1,3 billion in a new corn ethanol plant in Alto Araguaia, Mato Grosso.
Mato Grosso, known as the leader in corn ethanol production in Brazil, is preparing to receive a new ethanol plant. Bioverde, the company responsible for the project, will invest more than R$1,3 billion in the installation of the ethanol plant in the municipality of Alto Araguaia. With this new plant, the unit is expected to produce more than 1 billion liters of corn ethanol annually, in addition to 727 thousand tons of dry corn bran, thus contributing to ethanol production in the state.
About Bioverde's investment
Governor Mauro Mendes (União) expressed his satisfaction with the announcement of the investment from Bioverde. He highlighted that “no company makes an investment of this size in a region that is not prosperous”.
Mendes mentioned that the Araguaia area, previously known as Vale dos Esquecidos, is now referred to as Vale da Prosperidade.

This infrastructure is crucial to ensure efficiency in the distribution of products generated by the ethanol plant, contributing to the ethanol production chain in Mato Grosso.
The importance of corn ethanol in Mato Grosso
Currently, Mato Grosso leads the national production of corn ethanol and occupies second place in total ethanol production, which also includes sugarcane ethanol.
The state is home to 11 industries of ethanol which, in 2023, produced a total of 4,43 billion liters of ethanol, representing 73% of Brazilian production of this biofuel.
The industries are spread across cities such as Nova Marilândia, Poconé, São José do Rio Claro and Sorriso.
In addition, there are nine other ethanol plants under construction in municipalities such as Sorriso and Ipiranga do Norte, in addition to future projects for new ethanol plants.
With Bioverde's new investment, ethanol production in Mato Grosso is expected to continue to grow and contribute to the local economy.
