Brazilian city was chosen to host Scala AI City, a megaproject that could attract R$500 billion in investments and generate thousands of jobs in the technology sector.

A small town in southern Brazil is poised to become Latin America's next tech epicenter, with a billionaire investment which promises to completely change the country's economic and digital landscape.

In a world increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies, Brazil can finally take a leap that will position it as one of the main global technology hubs.

At the heart of this revolution is the ambitious Scala AI City project, an initiative that brings together the Rio Grande do Sul government and Scala Data Centers.

The initial investment of R$3 billion could reach the impressive mark of R$500 billion over the next few years., according to the state government, transforming the small Eldorado do Sul, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, into a strategic point for the development of digital infrastructure and attracting thousands of jobs to the state.

Eldorado do Sul: the city chosen for the future

The choice of Eldorado do Sul was not random.

Located just a few kilometers from the capital, Porto Alegre, the city offers a rare combination of security against natural disasters, ample electricity supply and possibilities for real estate expansion.

Furthermore, its proximity to Scala's SPOAPA01 data center in Porto Alegre facilitates the implementation of a low-latency infrastructure, which can be interconnected to the Malbec submarine cable, connecting Brazil and Argentina..

This strategic choice aims to serve both the domestic market and other countries in Latin America, placing Eldorado do Sul in a privileged position.

According to Ernani Polo, Secretary of Economic Development of Rio Grande do Sul, the state stands out as an attractive alternative for technological investments, favored by proximity to Mercosur countries, which enhances commercial and technological exchange with other nations in the region.

The promise of economic and social transformation

The construction of Scala AI City will not only bring technological advances; it represents an opportunity for economic and social revitalization for Eldorado do Sul and its surroundings.

In the first phase of the project, more than 3 direct and indirect jobs will be created in areas such as civil construction, energy and telecommunications.

These new jobs will strengthen the local economy, while the entry of companies from the technology sector should foster an innovative ecosystem in the region.

Marcos Peigo, CEO of Scala Data Centers, emphasizes that the project goes beyond technological development, contributing to the economic recovery of Rio Grande do Sul.

“We are taking Brazil to a new technological level, while boosting the local economy,” he declared.

A technological giant with unprecedented capacity in Latin America

Scala AI City was born with immense technological potential. The city's initial capacity will be 54 Megawatts (MW), but expansion could take that number to 4.750 MW, making it the largest data center in Latin America..

Cutting-edge technologies such as liquid cooling will be employed to ensure far superior energy efficiency, essential to support the infrastructure required for artificial intelligence and other high-demand applications.

According to Scala Data Centers, the project will be developed with the FutureProof design, which allows the installation of racks for intensive loads, facilitating the training of artificial intelligence and other complex operations.

This venture places Brazil on a global level of competitiveness in the technology sector and attracts the attention of multinational companies..

Scala AI City and its commitment to sustainability

Sustainability is one of the pillars of the project.

All Scala AI City data centers will be operated with 100% renewable energy and high-efficiency systems, achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of no more than 1.2, the lowest in Latin America.

Furthermore, the Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) will be zero, eliminating the use of water in refrigeration systems, an important innovation in the context of climate change and the preservation of natural resources.

With a focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), Scala Data Centers aims to attract investors interested in sustainable projects, in addition to demonstrating a commitment to responsible business practices.

These sustainable aspects represent a differentiator, considering that environmental concerns are increasingly at the heart of global business decisions..

Global connectivity and digital integration

Eldorado do Sul’s location and access to submarine cables make Scala AI City a direct connection to major technology hubs such as São Paulo and Buenos Aires.

This factor will be decisive in positioning Brazil as a strategic player in the artificial intelligence and data center services market., taking advantage of the growing demand for these services in a rapidly expanding digital market.

According to experts, the city has the potential to attract multinationals and establish itself as a key point for operations in Latin America.

This initiative is aligned with the digital transformation that Brazil is going through, driven by the adoption of technologies by companies and governments..

Scala AI City: a horizon of opportunities for Brazil

With an expansion horizon planned for the coming decades, Scala AI City promises not only to revolutionize the Brazilian digital market, but to consolidate the country as a technology leader in Latin America.

The economic impact and creation of thousands of jobs are just the beginning of this transformation., which can set new development standards and attract even more international investment.

But is Brazil really ready to take on the leading role in the technology sector, or does it still face challenges that could delay this ambitious project?

Eldorado do Sul was almost entirely destroyed by floods. Where did they get the idea that it has protection against natural disasters?

I also found the ignorance, intentional or not, of the author of the article very interesting. I don't think he read the news from May and June 2024.

Of course it will generate jobs, because without the junkyards, how will it generate profits? Now, wanting to show that an enterprise like this focuses on jobs is a fool's errand.

Paid article, that's all. It was the city most affected by the flood. It hasn't returned to normal yet. It's suffering an exodus. Well, the author of the article, Alisson Ficher, must be another one of the flood idiots that have emerged. In addition to being a terrible journalist, if that's what he is.
