Bugatti's new engine has been announced and will be a plug-in hybrid. The expectation is that the brand's new engine will offer 1.800 hp, revolutionizing the automotive industry.
Purist consumers may be disappointed, but Bugatti has confirmed that the successor to the Bugatti Chiron will be electrified. In a recent video teaser released by the brand itself, it was revealed that Bugatti's new plug-in hybrid engine will be a true revolution in the automotive industry. In the video, you can see details of the design covered in carbon fiber and even hear the powerful roar of the engine. The new engine will have 16 cylinders arranged in a “V”, replacing the traditional “W” configuration, promising to combine power and cutting-edge technology.
Automotive industry is surprised by the Bugatti engine capable of offering 1.800 hp
Despite the teaser, the brand did not release additional details. The information circulating comes from rumors and indicates that the new plug-in hybrid engine was developed by Cosworth with at least 8,3 liters of displacement.
You can count on aspiration, as the video suggests a new high-revving Bugatti engine (the estimate is 9.000 RPM) and will have the help of three electric motors to generate a combined power of 1.800 hp.

Regarding the car as a whole, there is also a lot of expectation. The super sports car will be completely new (and not an evolution of the Veyron and Chiron) and the last one designed by Achim Anscheidt, design director at Bugatti since 2004.
The executive will leave the French manufacturer after overseeing and signing the creation of cars such as the Veyron Super Sport, Grand Sport Vitesse and Hermès, among others. Furthermore, Anscheidt was the mentor of several concepts, such as the Galibier, the Chiron itself and other names such as Centodieci, Divo, Bolide, Mistral and La Voiture Noire. It's quite a legacy.
New plug-in hybrid engine will be longer than traditional ones
With his retirement, Frank Heyl rose from the position of deputy director to lead Bugatti's design team. Regarding the successor to the Chiron, Heyl has already made several encouraging statements. According to him, it will be incredible proportionally, technologically, in terms of innovation and in terms of unpredictability.
“The car with the new Bugatti engine will make people completely go crazy, and it's a real pleasure to work on it,” said Frank Heyl.
The CEO of Bugatti-Rimac informed some details of the new super sports car during the Future of the Car Summit conference in London. One of them is that the new plug-in hybrid engine will not rely on the help of turbochargers, and will be aspirated. The update follows the opposite path of the brand's quad-turbo configuration, for example.
Furthermore, Bugatti's new engine in the automotive industry will be 41 cm longer than the old W16, reaching close to 1 meter in length, for example. Made to have hybrid assistance, the set will go into production as soon as the Bolide and Mistral models reach the end of their respective lines.
Plug-in hybrid engine will have 60 km of electric range
It is possible for two engines to power the model's front wheels, while the third drives the rear wheels.
The latter, however, is linked to the eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. If what has been reported is correct, there will also be a 24,8 kWh battery, with a capacity of 60 km of electric range.
According to information, the Bugatti model in the automotive industry will go from 0 to 100 km/h in around two seconds, and reaches 200 km/h in less than five. With a top speed electronically limited to 446 km/h, the new Bugatti will be limited: only 250 units will be manufactured.
Estimated to arrive around 2026, the model will be above all expensive: its price will be at least 3.6 million euros, equivalent to around R$19.953.747 in conversion to our currency.
