International certification opens doors for the sustainable sale of marine biofuels in Brazil.
Bunker One Brasil, leader in the commercialization of marine fuels, recently achieved the international certification ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). This crucial advancement guarantees the sustainability of the products offered by the company. The certificate was obtained in two categories: ISCC EU, which confirms compliance with specific European Union criteria for products originating from biomass, and ISCC Plus, which has global coverage. These certificates demonstrate that Bunker One meets international sustainability standards throughout its biofuel supply chain, which is a prerequisite for Brazilian biodiesel to be adopted in navigation.
Commitment to sustainability
“Bunker One Brasil recognizes the biofuels as the most suitable alternative for the decarbonization of industry in the short term. In this sense, concern about the sustainability of the product to be sold is natural. The ISCC certification is a demonstration that our entire chain complies with international parameters, bringing security to the market”, says Filippe Fernandez, commercial director at Bunker One Brasil.

Future of biofuel commercialization
According to the executive, the next step is to guarantee access to the certified product without interruptions. “We intend to have a permanent operation selling biofuels still this year. Establishing partnerships is essential for the sector to have confidence in our ability to supply biobunkers with ISCC on a recurring basis. We seek to be leaders in the energy transition of the maritime sector also in Brazil”, concludes Fernandez.
Bunker One, the largest global player in the marine fuels segment and part of the Danish group Bunker Holding, already has several initiatives in favor of decarbonization. The company uses tankers capable of transporting methanol and bunker, in addition to supplying biobunker in more than 80 ports around the world.
