This opportunity could change your career and impact the quality of education in Brazil. But be careful: the deadline is running out! Check out the details and secure your place before it's too late!

In the Brazilian educational scenario, ongoing teacher training has proven essential to improve the quality of teaching and keep up with constant scientific and technological developments.

In this context, initiatives that offer specific and updated training to teachers gain prominence, contributing directly to the improvement of pedagogical practices and, consequently, to student performance.

A Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) expanded the target audience of the specialization course “Science is 10” (C10).

Now, in addition to teachers of Natural Sciences in the final years of elementary school, the program includes high school teachers who teach Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, as well as teachers in the initial years of elementary school.

This expansion aims to strengthen science teaching at different stages of basic education, promoting more comprehensive and inclusive training for educators.

Target audience expansion

The decision to expand the target audience of the “Science is 10” course reflects the need to train a greater number of teachers, recognizing the importance of a solid education in science from the early years of school through to high school.

By including teachers from the early years and specific subjects in secondary education, CAPES seeks to promote an integrated and continuous approach to science teaching, ensuring that students have a consistent and in-depth foundation throughout their school career.

Course details and objectives

The “Science is 10” course is a lato sensu postgraduate course offered in the distance learning (EaD) modality, providing flexibility so that teachers can reconcile their studies with their professional activities.

Integrated into the Mais Ciência na Escola Program, the course is the result of a partnership between CAPES, the Ministry of Education (MEC):, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).

Its main objective is to train teachers to develop innovative and effective pedagogical practices, stimulating students' interest and understanding in scientific disciplines.
