A new Chinese technology has brought to the world a robot dog equipped to fight fires and perform rescue operations.
A four-legged robot dog has been deployed for fire rescue operations in Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. This is the first time that a quadruped robot, developed in-house, is used by a local fire and rescue team.
Created by Hangzhou-based company DEEP Robotics, the robot has been dubbed X30. According to the newspaper Global Times, the machine is designed to meet challenges including extreme fires and rescue missions.
Furthermore, the company highlights that the X30 It has been used in energy inspections, police patrols and other emergencies.

Robot dog X30: resistance and agility
The X30 measures approximately 1 meter long, 50 centimeters high and weighs 56 kilograms. Designed to withstand extreme conditions, it can operate in both freezing temperatures and intense heat.
Another impressive feature is its ability to carry loads of up to 85 kilos.
With a range of over 10 kilometers, the robot dog can reach speeds of up to 5 meters per second. This mobility is essential for crossing obstacles and reaching dangerous areas quickly.
Additionally, the robot can be controlled remotely and has a two-way communication system, allowing real-time interaction with firefighters. This increases safety and efficiency during operations.
Advanced sensors for risk detection
Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, the X30 is capable of detecting toxic gases and mapping environments in 3D, providing essential information to first responders. This allows teams to have a detailed view of the scene before taking action.
Another important differentiator is its ability to operate in the dark. This is crucial for emergency situations where visibility is limited, such as indoor fires or structural collapses.
Long-lasting, quick-change battery
The X30’s battery life is 25% longer than previous models. Plus, you can get help quickly, ensuring the robot is always ready for emergencies.
With this technology, the robot dog can access high-risk areas without putting firefighters in immediate danger. According to the Changsha Evening News, the city's rescue team highlighted that the X30 improved the efficiency of operations and increased the safety of rescuers.
Before its official deployment, the robot underwent fire and rescue simulations in scratches, demonstrating its ability to operate in complex scenarios.
Participation in training and real operations
The X30 has already been tested in real missions. According to DEEP Robotics, it participated in the exercise “Emergency Mission 2024” in Zhejiang province.
In this operation, a fire department used quadruped robot technology together with drones to recognize chemical explosion risks.
"Quadrupedal robots have superior terrain adaptability. In the 'Emergency Mission 2024' exercise, the DEEP Robotics X30 robot dog was able to traverse complex terrain quickly and reach disaster sites promptly”, the company said in an official statement.
In recent years, China has excelled in the production of high-tech robots, expanding the use of these machines in areas such as security, logistics, healthcare, cleaning and education. The X30 is yet another example of this evolution, bringing concrete benefits to emergency and rescue operations.
