Sedan market on the rise: Used Nissan Sentra stands out among drivers for its excellent autonomy and affordable price. Nissan's sedan, packed with technology, is available for less than R$30.

Imported from Mexico in 2007, the sixth generation of the Nissan Sentra arrived in three versions on the sedan market, all with a 2.0 16V engine with 142 hp. Now costing less than R$30 thousand, this Nissan sedan has been gaining prominence among used cars due to its autonomy and performance. In this article, you will find out if it is worth buying the Nissan Sentra in 2024.

A little bit of history of the Nissan Sentra in the sedan market

The simplest version 2.0 already had electric steering, dual airbag, CD player with MP3 input, ABS brakes with EBD and cruise control.

The Nissan sedan's six-speed manual transmission was available, but there was also a CVT automatic option, offered as an option on the mid-range S. This model also received 16-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights and an on-board computer. The top-of-the-line SL included side and curtain airbags, leather seats, a sound system with a six-CD changer from Premium Rockford Fosgate and a sunroof.

Also in 2007, Nissan launched the limited series Sentra 3 Americas, in homage to the expedition made by Brazilian journalist Paulo Rollo and photographer Jeanne Look, with production of only 240 units. The difference was due to the more sophisticated sound system with a 6-disc Rockford Fosgate CD changer, amplifier and two additional speakers.

The flex version only arrived in 2009 with power increased to 143 hp, both gasoline and ethanol.

In the list of standard equipment, the simplest model gained 16-inch wheels with hubcaps, the S model now offers an iPod input on the sound system and the SL model gained the option of audio control on the steering wheel.

What is the best version of the Nissan Sentra for the 2024 sedan market?

For less than R$30, it is not difficult to buy the Nissan sedan with dual airbags, on-board computer, ABS brakes with electronic brake distributor (EBD), CD player, continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and even cruise control. The Nissan Sentra goes as fast as the Honda Civic, with the advantage of consuming less fuel.

For comparison purposes, in terms of consumption, the Sentra with a 2.0 engine does 9,1 km/l in the city and 12,1 km/l on the highway, while the second model with a 1.8 engine accomplishes the same task with 8,5 km/l and 12 km/l, in that order.

When it comes to the best version of the Nissan Sentra to choose from in the used sedan market, the tip is to always give preference to flex options, imported from 2009 onwards, which had their power increased to 143 hp, whether fueled with ethanol or gasoline.

Points to note in the Nissan sedan

When test driving, check for jolts or noises that may be coming from worn front shock absorber mounts. Interestingly, even when the car was still new, many owners complained about this problem.

There are reports of Sentra owners who have experienced looseness and noise in the steering column. If you prefer to replace it with a new one, the price is R$2.635, according to online ads. Since it is made of a very sensitive plastic, it is not uncommon to find scratches on the door finishes, columns and even inside the glove compartment.

It is also important to check whether the Nissan Sentra unit in the used sedan market has been subject to a brake master cylinder recall, which may present a fluid leak, which is reported to the driver via a light on the dashboard. The consequence is the progressive loss of braking capacity.

Wow... what a weak article. The Sentra really is a wonderful car, but the article was very biased in trying its best to hide the year of the vehicle on which the rear bumper is based.

Wow. Kiks is considered an SUV. SUVs drink a lot more fuel because they don't have a good aerodynamic coefficient. The same engine as Kiks powers the Versa, which does up to 13km/l.

Learn to drive, because even a tractor can do more than 6km/l

Very weak article. The author did not mention that the SENTRA B16 (2007 to 2013) with CVT transmission requires an oil cooler, which it has (from the factory) from the B17 (from 2014 to 2020).
