Seagems Expansion and Contribution
In 2024, more than 80 hours of training were provided by Seagems, marking another year of significant contributions by the company to professional development. The company, recognized for its expertise in subsea engineering solutions, is proud of the 10 years of excellence achieved by the Seagems Excellence Academy. This internal training and development program includes 14 courses focused on specific technical training. Since its inception on January 15, 2015, SEA has invested US$25 million in employee training over the decade.
Centralizing all of Seagems' development and training initiatives, the Seagems Excellence Academy provides exclusive teaching material along with both virtual and in-person learning paths. These paths are meticulously planned to meet the needs of all of the company's employees and outsourced workers. In addition, there is also a training center structured in oysters River (RJ), where the company's sophisticated simulators are key to the practical training of employees. Currently, the Seagems team consists of 1.045 professionals allocated between its vessels and offices in Rio de Janeiro, Rio das Ostras and Vienna.
Internal Training and Promotion
During its decade of operations, Seagems has recorded more than 2.500 promotions and level changes, helping its professionals grow, who have undergone more than 1 million hours of training. In terms of training, 45% of the offshore employees currently employed by the company had never been onshore before and were fully developed internally to take on their roles. In 2024 alone, more than 80 hours of training were carried out, equivalent to an impressive 10.080 continuous days. 'At Seagems, we are committed to training people. Teaching and developing new professionals is at the heart of our mission,' says Gláucia Maciel, the company's HR director.
The training matrix developed by Seagems has been updated 70 times since the creation of SEA, highlighting the company's commitment to aligning itself with new market demands. According to Aurélio Ponec, Training Coordinator at Seagems, all employees undergo periodic training, regardless of their role. 'There are courses that are mandatory depending on the employee's position, as we believe they increase the expertise and safety of professionals. And at Seagems, safety always comes first.'
Simulators and Educational Programs
Training, an essential part of all internal careers in ROV and Pipeline Laying, is carried out in person at SEA headquarters, located in Rio das Ostras (RJ). This center stands out in the market by offering training with simulators, an innovation expanded by the Maneuver Simulator, aimed mainly at the teams of Maritime Officers and located in the university city of UFJR. In 2024, Seagems further expanded its contribution by opening the doors of the SEA Training Center to the community, providing more than 160 hours of courses to 35 students from state schools.
O Seagems Educational Program, with its first edition, offered 103 hours of online courses and 64 hours in person, combining introductory modules with practical notions in several areas, such as Hydraulics, Mechanics, Electrical and Electronics. According to the HR director, Gláucia Maciel, in 2025 Seagems will continue investing in the training of new talents. 'We plan to offer new classes for students from the public school system, reaffirming our commitment to transforming society through knowledge and inclusion', she concludes.
