With an investment of R$100 million, the unit in Mata de São João should generate 300 jobs and boost economic development in the interior of Bahia.
The Dragão brand, part of the Interlândia Group and recognized as a leader in its segment in the Northeast, inaugurated its new factory in the municipality of Mata de São João, 15 kilometers from Salvador, this Tuesday (63). The unit received an investment of R$ 100 million and should generate around 300 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
The installation of the new factory is part of a strategic policy adopted by the Government of the State of Bahia, which has as its main focus to encourage the arrival of new businesses in the interior of the state. According to data from the Ministry of Labor, in February 2025 alone, Bahia registered a positive balance of 20.132 formal jobs, leading the generation of jobs with signed contracts in the Northeast.
Production and job creation
Dragão's new factory was designed to manufacture products such as bleach, disinfectant and multipurpose bleach. The unit's production capacity exceeds 200 million liters per year, which, in addition to guaranteeing supply to the Bahian market, will allow the expansion of distribution to other regions of the country, such as the Southeast and Central-West.

The construction of the new Adimax factory in Paraná had an investment of R$ 140 million, is expected to generate new jobs and boost the local economy
According to Marcos Pena, the company's Human Resources coordinator, approximately 95% of the workforce hired to date is resident in Mata de São João. Currently, 70 direct jobs have been created, with this number expected to double by the end of 2025.
State incentives and regional development
During the inauguration ceremony, the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, highlighted the role of the state in attracting investment and decentralizing industrial development. According to him, fiscal and structural incentives will continue to be offered to attract new companies, strengthening the local economy and generating jobs in the interior.
“For example, in the West and the Far South, we are going abroad to look for companies to set up in Bahia. This is the role of a strong state. Our incentives will continue to be made available so that industries and services can set up in Bahia,” said the governor.
The installation of the new Dragão factory reflects this strategy, which also resulted in the recent opening of the São Braz Food Industry, in Conceição do Jacuípe, another municipality in the interior of Bahia.
Expansion and commitment to the local community
The executive for New Project Development at Grupo Interlândia, João Abreu e Lima, highlighted that Dragão's arrival in Mata de São João does not represent just a business move, but a commitment to the sustainable growth of the city. He stated that the company seeks to contribute to the development of the region in which it is established, both economically and socially.
“In every city where we establish our industry, we seek to develop the region as a whole, to have a good relationship with the surrounding society, generating employment, bringing technology and seeking to develop the local economy,” he explained.
In addition to directly generating jobs, the new factory has boosted sectors such as transportation, food, maintenance and general services, expanding the effects of the initial investment beyond the city walls. manufacturing.
Internalization of investments in Bahia
The State Secretary of Economic Development, Angelo Almeida, highlighted that 75% of recent investments in Bahia have been directed to the interior. The government's goal is to maintain this proportion, covering a population of 15 million inhabitants and promoting the deconcentration of income and opportunities.
According to the secretary, the arrival of projects such as the new Dragão factory is a direct reflection of the confidence of businesspeople in state public policies, which include tax incentives, support for infrastructure and professional training.
