Elon Musk clarifies rumors about the launch of a Tesla cell phone and points out possible scenarios for entering the smartphone market.
In recent weeks, the internet has been going crazy with rumors about the possible launch of a Tesla smartphone. Many videos and speculations have emerged, especially after Elon Musk appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast on YouTube. But will this smartphone actually come to fruition? Well, Musk himself has come to clarify the situation, and spoiler alert: it's not time to say goodbye to your Android or iPhone just yet.
Elon Musk denies rumors: No Tesla cell phone (for now)
During the interview, Elon Musk made it clear that Tesla is not currently developing any smartphones. Despite being an innovative company, with projects ranging from electric cars to humanoid robots, a Tesla smartphone is not part of the company's plans.
“It would be possible to create a phone, since our operating system is based on Linux, with a lot of additional software. But that's not in our plans right now," Musk said.

- The oceans are changing color! Humans are the main culprits

Despite this, he admitted that Tesla is in a unique position to develop something that can rival market giants like Android and iPhone. The reason? The technology and innovation expertise that the company already has in-house. But for that to happen, something very specific would need to motivate this decision.
When could a Tesla cell phone surface?
According to Musk, Tesla would only consider launching a smartphone if things really got out of hand in the app market. He cited as an example an incident in 2022, when Apple threatened to remove Twitter (now called X) from the App Store. Although the threat never came to fruition, Musk sees these actions as a possible trigger for a new product.
“If companies like Apple or Google start censoring apps or acting as gatekeepers in an excessive way, we would consider building our own phone,” Musk explained.
In other words, if one day the big players start to limit access to certain platforms, Tesla's cell phone could become a reality to ensure that users have more freedom.
Starlink and partnership with T-Mobile
Even though Tesla's phone is still out of the question, Elon Musk isn't completely out of the communications market. During the interview, he talked about SpaceX's partnership with T-Mobile to bring Starlink satellite technology directly to cell phones. This project promises to revolutionize connectivity, allowing mobile devices to access the internet directly from space.
But don't worry, this won't happen tomorrow. According to Musk, the launch of this service should only take place in 2025. Still, it's further proof that Tesla and its sister companies, such as SpaceX, are always looking to the future.
Why does Elon Musk prefer to focus on other projects?
If you’re wondering why Tesla isn’t focusing on launching a smartphone, the answer is simple: it has other gigantic projects in the works. Musk has mentioned that his focus is on innovations like self-driving cars, humanoid robots and clean energy solutions such as MegaPack and PowerWall batteries.
Furthermore, Tesla continues to lead the electric car market and invest heavily in developing technologies that promise to change the world. Launching a Tesla phone could divert focus from these priority projects.
Tesla cell phone will only happen if absolutely necessary
Despite all the rumors and expectations, Elon Musk has been very direct: a Tesla phone will only happen if it is absolutely necessary. But that doesn't mean the company is out of the tech game. On the contrary, Tesla and SpaceX continue to explore new horizons, such as satellite internet and artificial intelligence.
For Tesla fans, the message is clear: it's still too early to expect a smartphone with the company's logo. But since we're talking about Elon Musk, never say never. After all, he's surprised us before with projects that seemed like they came straight out of a science fiction movie.
He has everything to do wonderful things, he has money, high-level technicians, laboratories to test technological advances, and above all he is a visionary capable of a holistic vision to anticipate the future and provide us with things we have not even dreamed of yet, which is why he is a great vector of technological development, a machine for success...
I really believe in the creative genius of Elon Musk's companies and I hope I'm alive to be able to take advantage of this technology. After all, I've always been a person who believed.
I will find the 9th wonder of the world! Being able to keep my mobile data working wherever I go!!
Much better than having to ask for other people's Wi-Fi passwords every time you need to!!
And it's a lie, Tesla said they never had a cell phone project and that it was on their dashboard.
Who knows
I would love to read the article, but how can I do that with a giant advertisement right on the screen? 🤦
On Android phone go to more connection settings in DNS write dns.adguard.com and end of ads.
God Bless Always The real idea of the existence of a cell phone is too much 📱 Tesla Will Be Very Welcome
I'm already a fan of Elon Musk, if he launches a cell phone it will be of great quality because this Samsung and this Apple are already outdated, we need to have new devices with more advanced technology. I thank Tesla for giving us this opportunity to provide us with devices with greater technology.
