Elon Musk warns: World's biggest new problem could lead to China and India losing 773 million people by 2100
It's a problem because fewer people means fewer workers, less innovation and more difficulty supporting the elderly. This could lead to serious economic and social crises in the future.

Elon Musk warns that population collapse is the biggest threat to humanity, as China and India face historic decline and Nigeria takes the lead by 2100.

Elon Musk, known for his innovations and controversial opinions, recently drew attention to a problem that he says is the greatest threat to humanity: population decline. Using his X account (formerly Twitter), Musk reaffirmed his concern with an alarming graph that shows a sharp decline in the population of countries such as China and India, totaling the loss of 773 million people by 2100.

With 12 children, Elon Musk not only talks about the topic, but also exemplifies your vision that reduced fertility rates, population aging and emigration are problems that need urgent attention.

What prompted Elon Musk to highlight population decline?

Since 1963, global fertility rates have fallen by more than half. While an average of 5,3 children per woman was common 60 years ago, today many countries do not even reach the replacement rate of 2,1 children per woman. Countries such as England and Wales, for example, recorded an average number of 1,44 children in 2023, the lowest ever recorded.

This trend reflects social, economic and cultural changes. Education, careers and access to contraception are among the factors that have reduced birth rates around the world.

In addition to low birth rates, emigration contributes to population decline in some countries. At the same time, population aging increases the economic dependence of one generation on another, reducing the active workforce and bringing economic challenges.

The alarming numbers from China and India

China and India, currently the most populous nations, will face historic declines. While India's population is expected to fall from 1,5 billion to 1,1 billion, China will see an even more drastic reduction, reaching 731 million people. projections indicate that China will be overtaken by Nigeria, whose population is expected to reach 790 million by the end of the century.

Contrary to this trend, African countries such as Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia will continue to grow. This highlights a global demographic shift, with Africa becoming the new center of population growth.

Elon Musk's vision and concerns for the future

For Musk, population decline is more than a numerical issue: it’s an existential threat. He argues that a smaller youth base will directly impact innovation, the economy and the ability to solve global problems.

As a father of 12, Musk argues that large families can be a practical solution. He also uses his social media to discuss the issue, encouraging dialogue about possible solutions.

How do developed countries deal with the problem?

Countries like the US, Canada and Australia maintain nearly stable population levels thanks to positive net migration. These countries use immigration policies to compensate for low birth rates and aging populations.

Continued growth in Africa presents challenges and opportunities. While it could provide a young, active workforce, it also raises questions about infrastructure, education and employment to support this growth.

There are those who believe that Moska is concerned about some population other than those capable of filling his pockets with money.

I believe you should learn a little more about Elon Musk and you will see that everything he does is for the good of humanity. If there is anyone who really cares about the future of the world, it is Elon Musk.

The fact that he is a millionaire does not deprive him of the ability to reason.

He thinks about people in a few years, and you don't care about people in a few years.
