Copel has been holding private auctions and has been stirring the energy market in Brazil, attracting strong interest from investors amid uncertainties about the pace of official government auctions for new energy projects, as the coronavirus pandemic has reduced demand for electricity .
According to Sébastien Clerc, CEO of Voltalia, with the contract the company reaches 1,9 GW of projects developed in the cluster. For the executive, the contract with Copel confirms the quality of the wind and solar cluster, attracting those who want to buy clean energy.

The partnership between the companies is old. Copel is a partner in the 108 MW São Miguel do Gostoso wind farm and was one of the purchasers of energy from Solar Serra do Mel.
Today, solar energy represents 20% of Voltalia's total installed capacity. The company intends to further increase this technology in its three main regions, with an additional 1 GW of solar capacity already signed.
Investments in Brazil
Voltalia announced the closing of deals with Copel and the petrochemical company in the first quarter of 2020 Braskem for the construction of new plants in Brazil.
Last month, the French company also announced a contract to develop, build and operate a wind farm in Brazil that will supply all production to the Japanese construction group TODA.
