FAB advances in the use of the powerful F-39E Gripen, which outperformed the US F-15 fighters in combat simulations. This operation reinforces Brazil as a rising military power, bringing innovations in technology and logistics.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is putting on a true show of technology and strategy in the skies, and the whole world is watching.

Behind the scenes of one of the most advanced military operations ever carried out in the country, the powerful F-39E Gripen fighters achieved a historic milestone: they defeated the renowned F-15s from the United States in simulated combat.

With this symbolic victory, the FAB advances in a strategic process that combines technological innovation and logistical planning, reaffirming Brazil as an emerging power in military aviation.

Gripen versus F-15: the test that surprised the world

During the month of November, Natal Air Base (BANT) hosted the second phase of the contractual Operational Assessment (AVOP) of the F-39E Gripen fighters.

Coordinated by the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), the stage had the collaboration of several entities, including the Sรฃo Paulo Aeronautical Material Park (PAMA-SP) and the Logistics Engineering Laboratory of the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (AeroLogLab-ITA).

One of the most talked about moments of the operation was the simulated combat between the Gripen and the American F-15s, where the Brazilian fighters demonstrated tactical and technological superiority.

โ€œIt was a show by the FAB, showing that Brazil can be among the largest air forces in the world,โ€ said international aviation experts.

The evaluation process included real missions integrated into the exercises COMAO Flight 2024 e Southern Cross (CRUZEX) 2024, both organized by the Preparation Command (COMPREP).

These trainings sought to test not only the combat capability of the fighters, but also to validate the logistical and maintenance efficiency of the F-39E model in complex operations.

Cutting-edge technology: the role of Basic Capability

The Basic Capability (BC) version of the Gripen is the focus of the FAB's attention. This initial configuration is essential to understand how the aircraft behaves in real scenarios and ensure its effectiveness in future missions.

During the evaluation, the focus was on logistical validation, with the collection of data on support and maintenance activities carried out outside the home base.

This information is essential to adjust the Gripen operation to the real conditions of the Brazilian environment, maximizing its operational performance.

As explained by Colonel Engineer Thais Franchi Cruz, general coordinator of the operation, the FAB developed an innovative management model for the use of aircraft.

โ€œFleet management software will be a disruptive tool, transforming the way of working not only for the Gripen, but also for other projects such as the KC-390,โ€ he said.

Revolutionary logistics management

One of the most notable innovations in this campaign was the validation of Simulation Model for Operations and Maintenance Management, developed by AeroLogLab-ITA. This system uses real-time data to predict and optimize aircraft maintenance logistics.

Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Garcia Figueiredo Pinto highlighted the relevance of this advancement: โ€œThe campaign was essential to validate the system.

The results showed high adherence to real FAB operations, demonstrating the modelโ€™s potential to transform fleet management.โ€

Furthermore, Air Force Colonel Fernando Teixeira Mendes Abrahรฃo highlighted the importance of continually evolving the model.

He said the system will act as a โ€œdigital twinโ€ for the fleet, helping to increase the accuracy and efficiency of operations.

Impacts on Brazilian military aviation

The entry of the F-39E Gripen into the operational cycle marks a watershed for military aviation in Brazil.

More than just a fighter jet, it represents a new era of logistical and technological strategies that can inspire other projects.

According to experts, the campaign carried out in Air base of Christmas is already considered an example of success for armed forces around the world.

Brazil shows that it is prepared to operate state-of-the-art aircraft, optimizing resources and ensuring maximum efficiency in its missions.

With the information collected, the FAB plans to implement continuous improvements to the Gripen's operational model, increasing its adaptability and longevity in the military scenario.

What does the future hold for the FAB and the Gripen?

The introduction of the F-39E Gripen in the FAB fleet is already transforming the way Brazil views military aviation.

With cutting-edge technologies, innovative management models and proven performance, the country is taking a significant leap towards strengthening its aerial sovereignty.

Hello! We can't boast about the results yet because everything is still testing and evaluation! The Gripen is not a fighter jet for use in the same way as the F15. The Gripen is part of a defense system that works in an integrated manner with the defense system. Until the datalink is effective, the aircraft will only have defense functions. Given the critical acquisition and contract problems, what will happen to Embraer and the national Gripen factory? Now the defense crisis is getting worse and we will have to buy another fighter for the defense? The Tejas will once again be the plane that plugs the air defense's weakness. And what will happen to Embraer with the Gripen liability and having to set up and finance another Tejas factory? Let's see what the solutions are in time... May Shiva enlighten us!

It's great that the country has state-of-the-art aircraft, but comparing it to other countries is a lot of confetti, which is typical of this government. We have just over 200 combat aircraft, most of which are obsolete. The US has 12000, Russia 10000, and so on. We have a lot of work to do.

Brazil has eight Grippen fighters and wants to make noise, it thinks it can compete with other countries that have more than 200. When the last one of the order arrives, which is not much, this technology will be outdated.
