Those who wish to begin technical or higher education should pay attention, as the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) announced, on February 7, 2025, the opening of 1.344 free vacancies in technical and undergraduate courses. According to information published on the IFRS official website, the opportunities are aimed at various areas of knowledge and are part of the institution's commitment to expanding access to quality education. The vacancies will be filled throughout 2025, and candidates must follow the deadlines and application requirements on the Institute's official channels.

Register for free IFRS technical courses
Registrations can be made from February 7th to February 13th, exclusively online, through the registration button. registrations on the website of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul. To register for free technical courses, you will need to have the password and login for your gov.br account, a government portal that aims to facilitate access to public services. If you are not yet registered on the portal, you must create an account.

To enroll in one of the free higher education courses, the candidate must have already taken the selection exam for the IFRS undergraduate course. The selection must be any one from the 2019/1 selection process and not have been classified as eliminated.
The candidate has the option of having participated in one of the editions of National High School Exam (Enem) from 2015 onwards and not having obtained a zero score in any of the tests, including the essay (grades from the Enem taken as a training test will not be considered).
It is worth mentioning that the new results from the Federal Institute or Enem exams will not be used for classification purposes. The classification for free technical courses will be in order of registration in the IFRS system.

There are options for free technical and higher education courses on the campuses of Alvorada, Canoas, Bento Gonçalves, Caxias do Sul, Erechim, Feliz, Farroupilha, Ibirubá, Porto Alegre, Osório, Restinga (Porto Alegre), Rolante, Rio Grande, Sertão, Veranópolis, Vacaria and Viamão.
All free technical courses are in-person, with the exception of the Technical Course Subsequent to High School in Didactic Multimedia at the Osório Campus, which is in the Distance Learning (EAD) modality.
