Get ready for a surprise in the car market! While many believed that the glory days of certain models were numbered, an unexpected turn of events brought two national classics back.

These cars, which were once icons of economy and accessibility, are more alive than ever in the imagination of Brazilians. But what makes this duo so special and how did they gain popularity again? The answer is surprising and you will find out now!

At a time when prices for new vehicles are sky-high, Brazilians have found refuge in the used market. O Fiat Uno and the Volkswagen Gol, two of the most beloved models in Brazil, lead the list of used car sales in the country.

Proof of this is that, according to data released by Federation of Used Vehicle Dealers (Fenauto), both are among the best sellers, with impressive numbers. Even after production ends, these cars continue to be the choice of many consumers, reflecting the nostalgia and practicality they represent.

Fiat and Volkswagen models have had production ended, but sales continue to rise

Production of the Fiat Uno, for example, ended in 2021, while Volkswagen discontinued the Gol in December 2022, with the last stocks being exhausted in June 2023. Despite this, demand for these vehicles has not decreased.

The Gol, in particular, continues to dominate used sales, leading with 63.230 units sold in April 2024. The Fiat Uno also stands out, with 35.480 units sold in the same month, occupying second place on the best-selling list. These numbers demonstrate the strength and appeal of these cars in the national market.

Fiat and Volkswagen duo combines economy and practicality

But what makes Uno and Gol so popular even after they were discontinued? The answer lies in the combination of economy and practicality. With new vehicle prices rising, many consumers are looking for affordable and reliable alternatives.

The Uno and Gol models, known for their durability and low maintenance costs, become attractive options for those who need a car without spending a lot. Furthermore, nostalgia and affection for the design and simplicity of these models also influence the purchasing decision.

What to consider when buying used

For anyone thinking about purchasing one of these classics, it is important to take some precautions. Before closing a deal, it is essential to carry out detailed research on the market and know the condition of the vehicle.

Pay attention to the condition of the body, engine, clutch and brakes. Also check the car's interior and service history. Documentation must be in order and it is essential to buy from a trustworthy company to avoid future problems.

A growing market

According to the Olhar Digital portal, the trade in used vehicles has shown significant growth, surpassing the previous year's performance. This indicates that more people are looking for affordable and practical alternatives, such as Uno and Gol.

This growth trend in the used market reflects a change in consumer behavior, who are increasingly aware of the costs and benefits of pre-owned cars.

In any case, the resurrection of models like the Fiat Uno and Volkswagen Gol on the used market is a phenomenon that highlights the adaptability and value of cars that marked an era. For lovers of economical and practical cars, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase quality vehicles at affordable prices.

Yes. When I was young I had a 1970 Beetle (inherited from my grandfather). Later we bought a FIAT UNO and later we bought a Gol. All of these were well looked after, durable and did not cause us any problems. Often the best results are achieved with the simplest things!
