Fire Department opens selection process for Temporary Workers: more than 400 vacancies for those with elementary education and up to 55 years of age

The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio Grande do Sul Registration closes today (16/10) protocols for Simplified Selection Process with the aim of hiring Temporary Civilian Lifeguards (GVCT). This process is intended to reinforce safety on beaches and resorts during the 2024-2025 summer season. The notices cover the regions of Northern Half e Southern Half of the state, totaling 440 vacancies.

The selection process of Military Fire Department aims to hire professionals to work in sea ​​waters e internal waters (rivers, lakes, dams), ensuring the safety of bathers.

Training course and remuneration

The Military Fire Department training course will be in-person or and will take place in the cities of Pelotas and Rio Grande, in the Southern Half, and in cities to be defined in the Northern Half.

Training for New Lifeguards: Workload of 200 hours/class (140 hours of course + 60 hours of supervised internship).

Recertification for Experienced Lifeguards: Workload of 50 hours/class (40 hours of course + 10 hours of supervised internship).

Successful candidates will receive a remuneration of R$ 2.120,00 monthly during the course, in addition to 100% life risk supplementmeal vouchers e transportation assistance.

The Military Fire Department selection process offers 440 vacancies divided between the North and South Half regions:

Southern Half (GVCT Notice 01/2024-2025):

  • Total vacancies: 100
  • Sea Waters: 70 vacancies
  • Internal Waters: 30 vacancies
  • Locations of operation: Santa Vitória do Palmar (Barra do Chuí), Rio Grande (Casino), Pelotas (Orange Grove), São Lourenço do Sul, among others.

Northern Half (GVCT Notice 01/2024-2025):

  • Total vacancies: 340
  • Sea Waters: 280 vacancies
  • Internal Waters: 60 vacancies
  • Locations of operation: Towers, Canoa, Tramandai, Caxias do Sul, San Francisco de Paula, Shangri-La, among others.

Both notices for the Military Fire Department have reserved vacancies, being 16% for black candidates (black and brown), 1% for trans people (trans women, trans men and transvestites) and 1% for indigenous people.

Selection process

The Military Fire Department selection process consists of four phases: Health and Mental Examination (eliminatory), Physical Fitness Exam, which includes swimming and running events (qualifying and elimination), Background Check (eliminatory) and Technical Training for new or Technical Recertification for former candidates (qualifying and eliminatory). Candidates competing for reserved places must submit self-declarations and prove their condition for inclusion in the quotas, as provided for in the notices.

Positions and Requirements

The positions offered are for Temporary Civil Lifeguard of the Military Fire Department, with two types of action:

  • Sea Waters
  • Internal waters (rivers, lakes and dams)

To participate in the Military Fire Department selection process, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be born or naturalized Brazilian.
  • Have between 18 and 55 years.
  • Complete primary education.
  • Be in compliance with military and electoral obligations.
  • To introduce certificate of no criminal record.
  • Pass the health and physical fitness exams set out in the notice.

In addition, internet access is required to register and follow the stages of the selection process.

Selection Process Schedule

  • Registrations: de September 17th to October 16th, 2024.
  • Health and fitness exams: The specific dates will be published on the official Fire Department website after registrations have been approved.
  • Technical Training and Recertification: The dates will be defined and published as the selection phases progress.
