Looking for a Ford SUV for 2024? Check out the Ford Edge, the luxury SUV that's dominating the used car market for under $60, attracting drivers with its excellent performance and economy.

Offering luxury and sophistication at prices more affordable than a zero-km Renault Duster, the Ford Edge stands out as an excellent option in the used SUV market. With prices below R$60, the model attracts more and more drivers in 2024, delivering an impressive consumption of 12,7 km/l, in addition to a vast list of standard equipment that surpasses even some current models. The version highlighted in automotive market is SUV Ford Edge Limited 3.5 V6 AWD first generation, which caused a huge impact on the global market when it was launched, consolidating itself as a reference in performance, comfort and technology.

History of Ford SUV in the automotive market

Ford's luxury SUV has stood out in the automotive market since its launch in 2006. Developed by the American brand, the Edge was designed to offer a combination of comfort, technology and performance.

Since its first generation, the Ford Edge has undergone several updates and improvements, establishing itself as a popular option among consumers looking for a spacious and versatile vehicle.

The first generation Ford Edge was launched in 2006 and quickly became a success. With a modern and bold design, the Ford SUV featured a 6-liter V3.5 engine capable of generating 265 horsepower. Average consumption was approximately 8 km/l in the city and 12,7 km/l on the highway.

Among the highlights of this Ford SUV are the spacious interior, with capacity for five passengers, an advanced entertainment system with a touch screen and safety features, such as stability control and front and side airbags.

Is Ford's luxury SUV still worth it?

The model arrived maintaining the six-cylinder โ€œVโ€ engine, 3.5 liters with 284 horsepower and 34.5 kgfm of torque, 6-speed AT transmission with torque converter. Still in terms of performance, it delivers 0 to 100 km/h in just 9,5 seconds. The Ford Edge also gained new accessories to continue being competitive in the market.

The Limited version has all-wheel drive and an optional sunroof, and Ford has implemented a DVD entertainment system in the front seatbacks with two seven-inch screens and a built-in media player, as well as wireless headphones, a remote control, and auxiliary and USB inputs.

The Ford SUV comes standard with accessories such as dual-zone digital air conditioning, parking sensors, leather seats and heated front seats with electric adjustments, on-board computer, door opening with keys or remote control, six airbags, AdvanceTrac electronic stability, traction and anti-rollover control, hill start assist and sensors for monitoring tire pressure.

What to look for when buying a Ford Edge?

Even though it is a luxury SUV from Ford that offers many benefits, the Ford Edge, like any other car, has its problems. A known chronic problem with the model is the transfer case; the effort and heating of the transmission fluid compromises the proper functioning and useful life of this component. Preventative maintenance helps to avoid the problem.

It is important to mention that, despite being cheap, maintenance is more delicate and laborious, as the car has several sensors that require knowledgeable labor. If the previous owner is not careful with the car, it can cause some losses to the current owner. Using the wrong oil, poor quality fuel and not performing preventive maintenance cause even more problems in engines of this type.
