The Ford Ranger Black, initially presented on the Argentine market at the end of August, promises to arrive in Brazil by the end of October.
This version, which was not present since the launch of the current generation, comes with a 2.0 turbodiesel engine, the same engine that equips the XL and XLS versions in Brazil.
These configurations currently cost R$244.990 and R$264.490, respectively, according to data from September 2024.
According to the website autoesporte, the model that will be sold in Brazil will have some differences compared to the Argentine one, such as the six-speed automatic transmission, positioning itself with an estimated price of over R$270. This new Ranger Black will be between the XLS 2.0 version and the XLS V6, which costs R$289.990.
Engine and performance: what changes in the Ford Ranger Black?
The Ranger Black has a 2.0 turbodiesel engine with 170 hp and 41,3 kgfm of torque. The Brazilian version should come with a six-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 traction, as seen in other 2.0 versions available on the market.
Furthermore, Ford continues to offer the Ranger with a 6 turbodiesel V3.0 engine, which delivers 250 hp of power and a robust torque of 61,2 kgfm.
Another highlight is the Raptor sports version, with its 6 V3.0 gasoline engine, delivering an impressive 397 hp and 59,4 kgfm.
Striking visuals and darkened details of the Ford Ranger Black
The Ranger Black's appearance does not go unnoticed. With an all-black design, it stands out due to the details on its bodywork.
The front grille is completely black, accompanied by fog lights with halogen lights and darkened rear-view mirrors.
In addition, the pickup truck comes equipped with 18-inch black wheels, side steps and roll bar, reinforcing its robust and modern identity.
On the side of the bucket, the Brazilian version is expected to feature the inscription “4×4”, indicating the all-wheel drive that should be one of the strong points of this version.
In the cabin, the leather and fabric seats follow the “Black” concept with unique details. Henry Ford's famous quote, “So long as it's black”, is engraved on the sides of the front seats, recalling the brand's pioneering spirit.
Cutting-edge equipment and technology
Just like in the XLS version, the Ranger Black is packed with technology and safety. The model includes seven airbags, digital air conditioning, emergency braking system and three driving modes.
Other amenities include a rear parking camera and sensor, a multifunction steering wheel with height and depth adjustment, an induction mobile phone charger and an 8-inch colour digital instrument panel.
A 10-inch multimedia center with connectivity for Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay are also part of the new pickup's technological package.
Impressive paint versions and dimensions
In Argentine, Ford offers the Ranger Black in two paint options: Black Pearl and Silver Metallic. In Brazil, the options have not yet been confirmed, but they are expected to follow the same colors. The price in Argentina starts at 48,6 million pesos, equivalent to approximately R$281.500 in direct conversion.
The Ranger Black maintains the same dimensions as the other versions, with 5,37 meters in length, 2,20 meters in width (including the rear-view mirrors) and 1,88 meters in height.
The wheelbase is 3,27 meters, while the load capacity in the bucket reaches 1.023 kg and the total volume is 1.250 liters.
Mysterious cabin and market expectation
During a visit to the Ford Proving Ground in Tatuí (SP), Autoesporte found the Ranger Black with sealed windows and black stickers, further increasing the mystery about its interior. The model was locked, preventing details of the cabin from being revealed.
