The city of São Paulo is offering free courses to train chambermaids and improve their skills in hospitality service. The initiative aims to strengthen the tourism and hotel sector by offering new opportunities for training and professional integration.
The city of Osasco is receiving a new opportunity for professional training. Registration is now open for the free chambermaid courses e Excellence in Service in Hospitality Services.
The trainings are part of the Tourism Academy, program of Secretariat of Tourism and Travel of the State of São Paulo (Setur-SP), which has already added 33 thousand vacancies in 2024 alone.
With short, in-person classes, the courses meet the needs of the tourism sector, which is constantly growing.

In addition to training, the initiative has an important social purpose: supporting women who are victims of domestic violence with training and new job opportunities.
Qualification with a focus on inclusion
The training courses are aimed at all profiles, but pay special attention to women in vulnerable situations.
The action is the result of a partnership between the state government and the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil, coordinated by Chieko Aoki, from the Blue Tree Hotels chain, and Luiza Helena Trajano, president of the Board of Directors of Magazine Luiza.
The classes will be supported by Senac São Paulo, which will issue certificates at the end of the courses. The City of Osasco and Cioeste (Intermunicipal Consortium of the Western Metropolitan Region of São Paulo) will also participate, reinforcing the regional commitment to social and economic development.
Hospitality-focused courses
The programme of chambermaid covers techniques, procedures and excellence in service. The course Excellence in Service in Hospitality Services focuses on preparing professionals to work with the public in hotels, inns and other areas of tourism.
According to Roberto de Lucena, State Secretary of Tourism and Travel, the design of the courses is based on a direct dialogue with the sector. “We talk to the tourism sector to find out what they need at the moment and we talk monthly with the Academy's 25 partners to let us know which courses are available. In this way, we connect the worker to the market.”, He explained.
The initiative reinforces the presence of women in tourism, a sector where they are already the majority. According to the Ministry of Labor, 55% of professionals in the area are women.
In the state of São Paulo, there are 31 thousand women in formal activities linked to tourism, compared to 25 thousand men, according to data from Caged.
Regional support for tourism
The Cioeste, which brings together municipalities in the region, strongly supports the courses. For Luiz Américo Liza Junior, coordinator of the Tourism Technical Chamber, the sector depends on sensitive and prepared human resources.
Classes will take place at Avenida Marechal Rondon, 263, in downtown Osasco. There will be classes in the morning and afternoon, with schedules organized by month.

Practical classes will be held in partner hotels, offering direct contact with professional reality.

Registration is open until the day March 31th, 2025. To secure a spot, simply access the website official of the program or send an email to tourism@sp.gov.br.
Places are limited. Those who participate will leave with a certificate and a much greater chance of entering the market. This is an opportunity to turn the page, gain autonomy and start a new phase with more preparation and confidence.
