GAC Motor has already sent 300 cars to Brazil and will begin selling its models in the first half of 2025.

Another Chinese automaker is about to make a major entrance into the Brazilian market. GAC Motor, one of China's largest manufacturers, will begin operating in the country in the first half of 2025. The first batch of 300 cars is already on the way and is expected to arrive in April. The company is betting on 100% electric models, such as the Aion ES sedan, to compete directly with strong names such as the Toyota Corolla and the BYD King.

According to the Webmotors website, the first cars to arrive in Brazil are part of the GAC Aion sub-brand, focused on electric vehicles. The models chosen for this premiere are the Aion ES, the compact SUV Aion Y Plus and the larger SUV Hyptec HT. All are already sold in China and promise competitive prices in Brazil.

What do we know about GAC models?

The Aion ES is a 100% electric sedan measuring 4,81 meters in length. It has a 136 horsepower engine and a range of up to 314 km, according to data from Brazilian Program Vehicle Labeling System (PBEV), as reported by Webmotors. The Aion Y Plus SUV is a little smaller, at 4,54 meters, but it also has a 136 horsepower engine and can travel up to 318 km on a single charge.

Another highlight is the Hyptec HT, an SUV with a more modern look and gull-wing rear doors. It will be sold with 245 and 340 horsepower versions, and can travel up to 362 km on a charge, according to the Autos Segredos website.

Chinese automaker wants to grow quickly in Brazil

GAC Motor has already prepared for its arrival in Brazil. According to Autos Segredos, the company has partnered with 20 dealership groups, which will open stores in the country's main capitals and large cities. Some of these stores should already be open as soon as the cars arrive.

But the company's plans go further. GAC also intends to launch hybrid and flex-fuel hybrid cars in Brazil, made especially for our market. What's more, it is already in talks with three federal universities to create a research center for automotive technology — with a focus on flex-fuel hybrid vehicles.

According to the company, the goal is to have its own factory in Brazil by 2030, with the capacity to produce up to 15 different models in the country. The idea is to offer Brazilians more technological, electric and affordable cars.
