Great Wall Motors' new flex-fuel hybrid pickup truck, the GWM Power, promises to shake up the reign of the Hilux and Ranger when it debuts in Brazil
The arrival of the GWM Power in the Brazilian market is surrounded by expectations, especially among those who closely follow the mid-size pickup truck segment. Even with the delay in the launch, which is now expected to happen between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, this flex hybrid is already born with the mission of upsetting the veteran Hilux and Ranger. Great Wall Motors' idea is to bet on a complete package of technology, power and striking design to shake up the scenario and, who knows, destabilize the leaders.
GWM pickup truck launch delayed, but on target
GWM Power had its launch postponed, but everything indicates that it will leave the Iracemápolis (SP) factory by the end of 2025 or beginning of 2026. It is a delay that only increases curiosity and pressure on the Chinese brand.
Poer is already a reality in the neighboring country, and the versions sold there (2WD, 4WD and luxurious automatic transmission) can serve as a basis for the Brazilian market. Thus, GWM Poer plans to offer options to please both the most basic and the most demanding public.

Billion-dollar investment in Brazil
The arrival of GWM Power is part of a R$10 billion investment in Brazil until 2032. Until 2026 alone, R$4 billion will be invested in the operation, showing that the automaker is not joking around when challenging Hilux and Ranger.
Following the same construction philosophy as Hilux and Ranger, GWM relies on a chassis on side members, ensuring robustness and durability. This solid base is ideal for tackling difficult terrain and heavy tasks.
Powerful GWM flex hybrid set
The expectation is that GWM Power will bring a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine combined with powerful electric propellers. The combination can reach 408 hp, making the pickup ready to face the market leaders without fear.
At around 5,41 m long, 1,93 m wide, 1,88 m high and with a 3,23 m wheelbase, the GWM Power is a firm entry into the mid-size club. It can also carry 1 ton in the bucket and tow up to 3,5 tons, putting up a direct fight with the Hilux and Ranger.

Leather seats, electric adjustments, panoramic roof, multimedia with 9” screen and 360° cameras are among the items expected for the national version of the GWM Power. It is the type of comfort and modernity that can make many Hilux and Ranger owners look sideways.
The front of the GWM Poer is eye-catching: imposing chrome grille, high hood and defined creases. The LED signature and the stylized “P” logo reinforce the bold character, a calling card to bother the leaders.
National production only in 2025
Despite the delay in the original schedule, GWM Power's production in Brazil is scheduled for the last quarter of 2025. Until then, curiosity only increases and so does the tension in the segment.
With the BYD Shark priced at R$379, the GWM Power is likely to cost between R$350 and R$380. This is a price that, when combined with the technology package and the flex hybrid, promises to try to steal the spotlight from the Hilux and Ranger.
Automakers exempt the agricultural sector and charge the difference to other consumers. That's why they charge such absurd prices for pickup trucks.
