The State University of Maranhão (UEMA) has extended the deadline for applications for its free Master's degree in Literature. There are 20 vacancies, distributed among general competition, disabled people, teachers and affirmative actions.

A State University of Maranhao (UEMA) has just extended the registration period for its prestigious stricto sensu Postgraduate Program in Letters, and you can still secure your place!

Limited places and free study opportunities

UEMA offers 20 vacancies, divided into different categories. Twelve of these vacancies are intended for broad competition, but there are also special opportunities:

two for university teachers and technical-administrative staff, two for People with Disabilities (PCD), And four vacancies reserved for the Affirmative Action Policy.

This master's degree is mainly aimed at graduates in Literature or related areas that are interested in exploring topics related to Literary Theory.

  • Literature and psychoanalysis,
  • Literature and sociology,
  • Literature and other arts and media.

Furthermore, the focus is also on narrativity and new narrative combinations, covering both poetry as dramatic forms and their interpretations in the contemporary scene.

Literature, memory and culture

The second line of research proposes to investigate the literature as a historical phenomenon, exploring its developments in dialogues about identity, culture and memory. Here, projects can discuss:

  • Literature and social formation,
  • Literature and cultural memory,
  • Children's literature and orality,
  • The intersection between historical and literary text.

This line is aimed at those who want to understand how literature interacts with society over time, creating new interpretations about our cultural heritage e our identity.

Classes start in March 2025

If you are interested in this opportunity, get ready: classes are scheduled for March 2025, with a full-time workload.

Activities will take place from Monday to Saturday, in the morning and afternoon shifts, on the UEMA campus, in São Luís, in the Letters Course building.
