Get ready for a Chevrolet Onix revolution: a popular car will become an SUV to win the hearts of Brazilians and end the reign of the Toyota Yaris Cross and Pulse

Chevrolet shocks the market and reveals the SUV version of the Onix: new SUV is cheaper than the Yaris Cross and Pulse, and promises to sell like hotcakes!

If you thought the Chevrolet Onix had already reached its peak, prepare to be surprised. The American automaker is about to transform Brazilians' favorite into an SUV that promises to shake up the market and leave competitors like the Toyota Yaris Cross and Fiat Pulse behind.

With an innovative design, cutting-edge technology and a price that will hit your wallet, the new Onix SUV is Chevrolet's bet to dominate the streets and win even more hearts. And you, will you stay out of this revolution?

Chevrolet Onix will become an SUV and will be produced in Gravataí, Rio Grande do Sul

The Chevrolet Onix, one of the most popular cars in Brazil, is about to undergo a radical transformation. American automaker has already confirmed that the model will gain an SUV version, bringing a new option for those looking for style and performance.

Production will be in Gravataí, in Rio Grande do Sul, the same place where the hatch and sedan models of the Onix family are manufactured.

New Chevrolet SUV promises to end the reign of the Toyota Yaris Cross

Chevrolet plans to position the new SUV below the Tracker, creating a more affordable alternative on the market. With prices between R$100 and R$130, the goal is to compete with models like the Toyota Yaris cross, Renault Kardian, VW A0SUV, Fiat Pulse and Honda WR-V. The brand will take advantage of much of the Onix's structure, using the GEM platform and sharing parts to ensure competitiveness in the segment.

This new version of the Onix SUV will have features reminiscent of the hatchback model, but with important adaptations. The front will be raised, the suspensions will be more robust, and the vehicle will gain inserts on the wheel arches, adopting the classic shape of an SUV. However, many internal and structural elements, such as columns A and B, will be maintained from the original Onix, guaranteeing the model's identity.

Furthermore, in order not to compete directly with the Tracker, the Onix SUV will have slightly smaller dimensions. The wheelbase will be 2,55 meters, slightly below the Tracker's 2,57 meters, maintaining the hierarchy between Chevrolet models. The engine will be the well-known 1.0 turbo flex, with up to 116 hp and 16,8 kgfm of torque, available in six-speed manual and automatic versions.

The new SUV project is part of an investment of R$1,2 billion in the Gravataí factory

But the news doesn't stop there. According to information from journalist Fernando Calmon, the Onix SUV should now hit the market with a hybrid-flex engine. The set will include an electric motor in place of the starter and alternator, helping with starting and cruising speeds. This system, similar to that in the Kia Stonic, will increase torque and power, offering a more efficient driving experience.

The new SUV project is part of an investment of R$1,2 billion in the Gravataí factory, which will also serve to renew the entire Onix family. The model is expected to be launched in 2026, but it is already generating expectations in the market. With the introduction of this new SUV, Chevrolet intends to reinforce its presence in the competitive sports utility vehicle segment, offering an attractive option for those looking for a compact, modern and efficient vehicle.

It looks like Agile improved.
Now all that's left is to finish off the oil-bathed belt.

If you put a steel timing chain, everyone will be happy, and you can already make one that can be used on those that are on the market. Open your eyes GM, you are burning yourself in the market with this oil-bathed timing chain.

It will also be with an oil-bathed belt, they launched the Onix and plus, excellent cars, but they made a big mistake when it came to the belt. Will the SUV have the same engine with an oil-bathed belt?
