According to the approval of the ANP published yesterday (29/12), in the Official Gazette (DOU), the new liquefied natural gas regasification terminal will be in the same region as the Novo Tempo thermoelectric plant, in Barcarena. The energy generation project belongs to Celba itself, which is being implemented and will be supplied with LNG cargo received there.

The LNG project will have port facilities for mooring and mooring a floating storage and regasification unit, known as FSRU.

Operations for transferring an LNG methane tanker with a regasification capacity of up to 15 million cubic meters per day in natural gas may be carried out there.

The future production of the Novo Tempo plant was negotiated in advance by Celba with energy distributors, in an auction for new generation projects held by the Brazilian government at the end of 2019. According to the original schedule, the venture needs to start operating in 2025.

On the radar of investors responsible for the thermal and LNG terminal is not only power generation, but also the sale of gas to large companies in the region, installed in the industrial center of Barcarena.

About Celba

Celba, which owns the project for the LNG terminal and the Novo Tempo thermoelectric plant, is an association between the Brazilian company Oak Participações and a company from Golar Power, a joint venture of the gas company Golar LNG with the manager Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners.
