Driver's license renewal process for drivers over 60 years old
Drivers over 60 can rest assured that the process of renewing their driver's license is simple and straightforward. However, there are some important steps that need to be followed. Check them out:

– Log in to the DETRAN website, using your CPF or CNPJ number and National Driver's License Registry (RENACH) number or password – this step may vary from state to state;

In some cases, it is necessary to undergo medical and/or toxicological examinations, with payment of a fee to perform the required examinations. In the state of São Paulo, for example, the stage of performing medical and/or toxicological examinations is scheduled directly through the DETRAN-SP website and the payment of the fee is made directly at the doctor's office where the examinations will be performed.

The CNH validity period was updated in 2021, as a way to adapt to new demands. Until 2020, the period for renewing the CNH was up to 5 years for drivers under 65 years of age, and 3 years for drivers over 65 years of age.
