In addition to improving Suzano's logistics, the 'Green Santos' capacity represents a significant step in reducing the carbon footprint per ton transported.

Delivered to Suzano at the end of 2023, the 'Green Santos' is just the first in a series of similar sized ships scheduled to be delivered this year. The initiative comes in response to the projected increase in pulp exports, driven by the new Suzano factory under construction in Ribas do Rio Pardo, Mato Grosso do Sul. The Port of Santos is the main starting point for this logistics.

Known as the Cerrado Project, the new unit, scheduled to begin operations by June 2024, will increase Suzano's total capacity to 13,5 million tons per year. The production will be transported through the Port of Santos, where the first shipment of 'Green Santos' took place.

Currently, the cellulose represents 2,8% of pulp exports Brazilians, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, referring to March 2024. Of this total, almost 30% are destined for China, the main importer of cellulose from Brazil.

What is Brazilian cellulose?

A Brazilian cellulose has played an increasingly significant role in panorama of country's exports. According to recent data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, referring to March 2024, cellulose represents approximately 2,8% of total Brazilian exports.

The vessel, the result of a partnership between Suzano and Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, departed the Port of Santos carrying 72 thousand tons of the company's exclusive pulp.

Among the destinations of these exports that are made by a cellulose ship, China emerges as one of the main importers of Brazilian cellulose. Around 30% of the total exports are destined for the Asian giant.

But why is Brazilian cellulose so sought after, especially in China?

Several factors contribute to this. Firstly, Brazil has vast areas of planted forests, especially eucalyptus, which are sustainable sources of raw material for pulp production. These forests, combined with advanced cultivation and management techniques, guarantee a constant, high-quality supply for the cellulose industry.

Furthermore, the growing concern about the sustainability and the search for renewable materials has driven demand for cellulose, which is widely used in the manufacture of a variety of products, including paper, packaging, chemicals and textiles.

Finally, Brazil's strategic geographic position, with easy access to main consumer markets, such as Asia, also contributes to the country's competitiveness in the international pulp trade.

Given this scenario, it is clear that Brazilian cellulose plays a crucial role in the country's foreign trade, generating jobs, foreign exchange and contributing to economic and sustainable development.

With global demand for sustainable products constantly growing, The future of the Brazilian cellulose sector looks promising, with opportunities for expansion and consolidation of its position as one of the main players in the global market.

They do a complete report and then show images that are not of the ship in question and even use the image of a TANKER ship!! Why don't they do the proper research on types of ships? They don't have an image of the GREEN SANTOS, so don't show anything, but showing images of other ships is unacceptable for a serious news channel.

Bolsonaro already said we shouldn't export to China because Trump doesn't want to.
Let's just export to the Esteitis at peanut prices so that they respond at market price.
