Construction work on the Guaratuba Bridge advances with an investment of R$386,9 million to improve mobility on the Paraná coast
The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge, one of the most anticipated projects in Paraná, has reached 44,2% completion, according to data from the Paraná Department of Highways (DER/PR). The expected completion date is 2026, providing a new alternative for transportation between Guaratuba and Matinhos, regions that currently depend on ferry boats for crossing. This new structure is part of the investments in highways and infrastructure in Paraná.
Structure and details of the Guaratuba Bridge
The Guaratuba Bridge project includes a 1.244-meter-long structure, equipped with:
- Four lanes of traffic (two in each direction);
- Safety strips;
- Cycle path and sidewalks;
- Rigid concrete guardrails and barriers;
- Navigation channel 17 meters high and 90 meters wide.
The total infrastructure of the road complex will be 1.826 meters, including 951 meters of access roads on the Guaratuba side and 875 meters on the Matinhos side. In addition to the main bridge, the project includes restructuring local roads and connecting them to Estrada de Cabaraquara, facilitating traffic in the region and boosting the urban mobility on the coast from Paraná.

Investment and execution
The Government of Paraná invested R$386,9 million in the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge, which is under the responsibility of the Nova Ponte Consortium, formed by the construction companies OEC, Carioca and Goetze Lobato. The supervision and monitoring of the work are conducted by DER/PR, linked to the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics.
According to DER/PR, 40 of the 64 planned piles have already been completed, including 16 in the cable-stayed section and 24 in the precast section. The structural progress also involved the installation of crown blocks, pillars and precast longitudinal beams. This advancement places the project among the largest investments in infrastructure from Paraná.
Impact on mobility and local economy
The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge will eliminate the need for the ferry boat, which currently transports around 3 vehicles per day during peak season. According to the Government of Paraná, the structure will reduce travel time between cities, benefiting both residents and tourists who visit the region.
Furthermore, the project should boost the local economy, facilitating access to shops, services and tourist areas. Tourism, essential to the economy of the Paraná coast, should be strengthened by the new infrastructure, attracting more visitors throughout the year and improving urban mobility on the Paraná coast.
Monitoring and next steps
The population can follow the Bridge construction progress of Guaratuba in real time through the monitoring cameras available on the official website of the project. In the coming months, the teams will continue with the driving of piles, launching of beams and installation of complementary structures, maintaining the schedule for delivery in 2026.
