How the ACTIVATE! program works!
ACTIVATE IT! is aimed at school managers and secondary and elementary school teachers from anywhere in Brazil. The program uses WhatsApp as the main platform to access content and participate in weekly virtual meetings with USP tutors. During these hour-long sessions, participants have the chance to interact and exchange experiences with educators from across the country.
There are 500 distributed vacancies in two main courses: Life Projects and the Good Teacher and New Pedagogical Architectures. Each course has a workload of 40 hours, spread over eight weeks.
To participate, educators must choose a fixed time for the virtual meetings, which take place between September and November 2024. In addition to WhatsApp, other digital tools are used to complement the learning experience.
What you will learn in the courses
New Pedagogical Architectures is an course that challenges educators a revisit and reinvent traditional teaching practices. The proposal is rethink education, using active methodologies such as Problem and Project Based Learning (ABPP), Design Thinking, and maker culture. These methods place the student at the center of the learning process, transforming them into a co-creator of knowledge.
Life Projects and the Good Teacher, in turn, seeks to train educators to support their students in building ethical life projects and conscious citizenship. The course explores the role of the teacher in training engaged and responsible citizens, in addition to promoting discussions about what it means to be a good teacher, based on concepts from Howard Gardner and other scholars.
Details of schedules and registration
Course classes begin on September 1st and continue until November 22nd, 2024. Participants can choose between different times during the week for virtual meetings, which take place in the morning or evening, depending on your availability.
Registration is now open and can be made until August 18, 2024. The courses are entirely free and, at the end, participants receive a certificate issued by USP.
