USP course covers transliteration of Chinese and Armenian
The Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of USP (FFLCH-USP) has opened registration for the Transliteration Course for Oriental Languages: the case of Armenian and Chinese.
Lasting five hours and carried out remotely, the program seeks to teach fundamental concepts of transliteration and its applications in the global linguistic context.
Participants will have access to teaching materials in PDF and will follow the classes via Google Meet, making the experience accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
According to USP, the course aims to explore the relationship between phonemes and graphemes, addressing historical and methodological aspects of the romanization of these languages.
What will be taught in the course?
The course syllabus is divided into four main areas:

- Armenian language: Differences between classical and modern Armenian, eastern and western variants, as well as transliteration methods such as ALA-LC (American Library Association + Library of Congress) and Húbschmann-Meillet.
